The machine is apparently based on a 1930 Henderson—presumably the 100 mph (160 km/h) Streamline model—and was built in 1936 by a gent called O. Ray Courtney. Today the bike is owned by Frank Westfall of Syracuse, a motorcycle collector and local identity, who was seen happily riding this extraordinary motorcycle around the showgrounds. According Mortillaro, “The craftsmanship is absolutely stunning and it’s surely more of a museum piece than a daily rider. Frank has obviously spent an incredible amount of time meticulously restoring and rebuilding the bike to its current gorgeous state.â€

Henderson with a BMWish art-deco look. very cool.

That bike, or piece of art looks good from all angles (pics on the website). It's amazing the styling that went into it, and that was BEFORE plastic molds and such!!

Well, it appears you gentlemen are unaware that there were in fact MORE than one of these machines manufactured. You see, though this is unfortunately the last remaining example of such, in total there were THREE of these motorbikes made, and they ALL were purchased by members of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen!!! Uh huh! I kid you NOT! One was purchased by the stalwart Alan Quatermain, one by that champion of disarmament, Captain Nemo, and the last one by that ever so hard to read gent, the Invisible Man! Now, the example which you see above was at one time the property of Mr. Quatermain. The second and third examples, which as I mentioned are now unfortunately lost to posterity, were at one time owned and ridden by Captain Nemo(the second in production, and the ONLY one which possessed the capability to also act as a submersible boat), and then the third and final example being the only one which also possessed the ability to become(yes, you might have guessed this here) completely invisible to the naked eye, which by the way has always caused much heated debate amongst many a collector of vintage motorbikes about IF in fact the third and final example has indeed become "lost to posterity" OR if in fact it is still out there somewhere but nobody since 1939 has been able to actually see it! (oh, and btw...IF you're per chance wondering what might have became of the second example, well, it was reportedly lost off the coast of Mysterious Island in the year 1942 and after a German U-boat had mistakenly mistook it for a very attractive potential breeding mate and had become, lets say, "a "little over-amorous in its pursuits", at ironically enough, the depth of 20 thousand leagues under the sea!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Are you just making that stuff up there Dwight? 'Cause it sounds kinda far fetched ya know, and I doubt that bike was submersible. But then again... I've been wrong before!

Well...yes and no, Bob!
As you can plainly see here, Mr. Quartermain's example of this model has no, and reportedly never did have, seat belts, NOR did The Invisible Man's example, from what people familiar with it at the time and just before it disappeared can recall.
However, because water resistance is MUCH greater than air resistance at the same approximate speeds, Captain Nemo was farsighted enough to have ordered HIS version with the seat belt option. He's didn't wish to be swept off his ride whenever he took it for a spin around and under the Atlantic Ocean, or ANY body of water for that matter, you see!
(btw, if anyone is interested, I TOO think this thing is very very cool lookin', and the only reason I'm kind'a makin' fun of it here, is that it DOES look like somethin' "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" would have ridden, don't ya think?!)

One of the guys over at the Cycle World forum just posted this old photo of what is undoubtedly the very same bike....

Cool, huh?! And what a coincidence, eh?!
(btw, if you're wonderin'...I'm sure he found it on the internet, which is his usual source, and probably has no connection to either the bike nor the family pictured here)

Yeah, I know what you're sayin' here, Bob. I think the reason a lot of people here like it is because it's just so darn "Deco-cool" streamline lookin'. (hey, wait a minute here, Bob!...it's suddenly dawned on me why YOU wouldn't like ridin' it around!...it's 'cuz it ain't got no SIDE-REFLECTORS on it, RIGHT?!)
