At low speed, around 30 mph I have developed a shake that goes through the bars. It's not too bad if I'm holding on with both hands, but quite noticable if only using one hand. It disappears at speed. Have checked the tyre pressure and it's ok, so not that. Any ideas?

I had a bar shake before I changed out my old tires. The tube in the front was bad and the tire was worn out of balance.Smooth as can be now.

It can be any number of things. The wheel could be out of balance. Even if you had it balanced, sometimes those stick-on weights can fall off. There could be a problem with the tire... for example the tread can be cupped which in turn causes shake. And it is not unheard of for the tire to be less than perfect right from the factory. What else... oh yeah, wheel alignment. Yup, if that back wheel gets out of alignment (from doing chain adjustment) the front can in turn... shake. Strange but true... we were just talking about that at the recent Nelson RAT Raid.

Something I just thought of, I was returning from the Dent rally with the back loaded up with tent, bags etc, maybe this has had an effect. Will take her out for a ride without the load and see if there is any difference.

These bikes (at least mine) are exstremely tire sensitive. A bad tire and you will feel the shake at lower speeds.

Every time I've had this symptom it's been a cupped front tire (that's three bikes in a row); an early warning sign to replace the front tire before performance degrades anymore.

I've been experiencing this shake for long while now. I'll have the shop put on a new (different) tire. I will try the Kenda Challenger. From what I'm reading here, anything is better than the stock Metzeler.
