Just wanna whine a little. Last Friday I had 21 teeth pulled and got temp falsies until i heal up enough for implants. Hurts, I mean it friggin hurts! Pulling, grinding, scraping for 4 hours in the chair. OWWWW! Even hurts with the 750 mg vicodin. I am sick of eating mush too. At least I no longer look like bucky the beaver with missing toofies.
Ok, rant over, need liquid medicine from my keg now....
Oh, see the "New" trophy thread, at least something good came from Jane's pity for me.

Dang Pat,

I woke up in a London Hospital on my birthday last year, or was it 1944? (take your pick), singing "All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth". The nurse with a cockney accent was greatly impressed

Dentist quoted me $10K for implants and a mere $5k for permanent dentures-yikes!! I duct taped white chicklets in place whilst I decide

If that vicodin doesn't do the trick for you, I can personally vouch for a morphine IV

My dentist quoted me $6000 for each implant! I now have 2 plates. What a rip-off!

You have every right to whine - 21 teeth - wow! Hope the pain subsides quickly for you.

I've got two that were pulled last year - 2 molars on the same side, so I've lost some chewing power on that side, and have been quoted around $5K for each implant. I may just do without.

I'm not saying the new Trophy makes up for what you're going through but I'm sure it helps!! Yikes dude... that sounds terrible!! But after reading Freedom's post, are you sure you really do have a Trophy out there in the shed... or is them drugs making pretty things appear that aren't really there.

My wife had two implants (teeth, you pervs), molars about three years ago. $3,500 but the insurance picked up the tab.

Now a friend is getting those clear choice implants where they just put two posts in the top and two in the bottom then attach the plates to them, $60,000. Insurance don't pay for that.

Pat, if you are brave, consult your local university's Dental School. The professors have to demonstrate techniques to students on somebody and you might benefit from very low rates (maybe free) on the services.

Or, if really, really brave, you might consider permitting a dental school student to do the work--maybe they will pay you! Whatever you choose, I wish you the best!

No way am I brave enough for that kind of work.
A student messes up a haircut, it will grow back, I'm more protective of my teeth.

Ah, but these aren't just students. Well, they are, but they are already 6 yr+ practicing dentists at the end of a 2 year advanced dentisty stuff . Next year they take classes in electrocution, stretching, eye gouging and super pain induction.
Now, downstairs, that's a different world. That's what they call "Practicing" denistry.

I always remind my own dentist at each visit of that scene in Marathon Man where Laurence Olivier is asking Dustin Hoffman, "Is it safe?", over and over again...my dentist claims never to have seen that film...

But, I do have this gorgeous smile as a result of my patience and ability to withstand immense pain

Ah HA! I see I have a fellow movie buff who does the very same thing I do whenever I visit my "Painless Sam" of a dentist, eh John?!

And, what's even MORE coincidental here is that MY dentist ALSO claims to have never seen that flick!

(...and so NOW the ONLY conclusion I can draw here is that the instructors at ALL the dentistry academies throughout this country must evidently tell all their students to fain ignorance of that movie and to get right to the job at hand!!!)

Hey, don't laugh, but I remember there is a Dental school up near you (the town where "It's a Wonderful Life" was filled, if memory serves). I drove past it one day last summer. Good luck with the choppers!
