Ok , three days. We are closed the 3rd thru the 5th.....what to do.... I think I'll head out tomorrow and go West.... stop at a KOA to camp for the night, might end up in Shamrock, Texas, might keep going to Amarillo OR the most fabulous place.........Tucumcari, New Mexico.... Well then, does one turn around and head back to beautiful Muldrow, Oklahoma or take a day trip up the "pretty road" to Las Vegas New Mexico....It is good to have options !

I'm jealous!

Always remember to be yourself. Unless you suck. Then pretend to be someone else.

Nice to be able to roll out without a real destination, Dan. Sounds awesome!

I've cruised through Amarillo twice, and ate at Big Texan steak house both times. Didn't try the 72 ounce steak though, wish I had. :P

Not much better than a road trip. Enjoy!

Adventure completed...... Headed West on the trusty '97 Sprint Sport...encountered torrential rain about Yukon , Oklahoma...but I'm determined to make it to Tucumcari..... Just befor Sayre , Oklahoma the lovely beast begins to fishtail a little at 80mph....sounds like it needs some air in the back tire !, luckily there was a truck stop and an exit at that moment and they were open (it is July 4th mind you) ..long story short, the Sprint was suffering from a busted back rim, not an easy fix, so I call "the lovely & gracious" and she hooks up the trailer and heads the 350 miles to get us ( me and the bike). While at the truck stop for 5-hours waiting for my ride home the bike and I became a one man bike show.... people kept coming buy to talk, most seemed amazed Triumph was still around and others did not miss the humor of it being July the 4th and the British bike was "broken" , But being the only entrant in this bike show evidentally ment I won all the prizes...a couple of Harley riders brought me a 32oz Bush beer , a lady brought me a Taco-Bell "happy meal" and a nice kid brought me an ice cold pepsi....got to visit with people not only locally but from multiple states... even got to enjoy a fine hand rolled cigar...... yep, missed Tucumcari and a jog up to scenic Las Vegas, New Mexico but still had an enjoyable time on the 4th....the wife showed up and alas... the bike and I are back home in Muldrow, Oklahoma It's not the destination !

I lived in Albquerque NM for 4 years and peddled stuff door to door in Tucumcari and Las Vegas NM. The cops in Tucucari went ballistic on us and rode us out of town. Las Vegas NM was a mite nicer. Truth or Consequences NM was really a nice place for us. We spent three days there and sold everything we had. The people there were so happy to see us that they threw out the welcome mat and treated us like royalty.

There was a glitch in the trip. On the way back in my GMC full size Jimmy I had 3 passengers. I told them that the State Police and ICE were prone to putting up road block and equipped with drug sniffing dogs were death on narcotics and such. I told them if any of them were holding anything they would get me or my truck in trouble and they got caught they were on their own and if my truck got confiscated there would be terrible consequences.

They all assured me that they were not and the trip continued. Somewhere near Belen NM there was the roadblock. The dog sniffed one of my passengers and he had over an ounce of decent pot. They wanted to confiscate my truck but I advised them that this idiot had been warned by me and since they found the pot on his person and I had no knowledge of it they really could not justify taking my wheels. Somehow I kept the truck. He stayed there and spent 60 days in the slammer and lost his pot. He was also fired immediately.

He came sucking around the office one day looking for a handout and it was all I could do not to choke him out on the spot.
