I am trying to check valve clearences on my speedmaster.I have removed all necessary equipment. The cam cover bolts have been removed, but the cover acts like its glued to the head any ideas?

Yea......just tap it and it'll come off. Take something like a small block of wood so as not to marr it. Then find a spot where the lip of the cover overlaps the head and put the block against it and tap it with a hammer. It'll come off real easy once you do that. It's not stuck on as hard as it seems. Just requires a small jolt.

Oh, and once it's off you may find it hard to remove with all the obstacles. i had to remove the do-hickey on the left side of the backbone.(forgot what it is...an emissions box or something i think....you may not have it if it's a non-california model)Then i had to pull the wiring harness over to the left side of the backbone and maybe a few other things that had to be moved out of the way. Once theres enough clearance it comes off to the right side.

And by the way, get a chrome cam cover if you can afford it. I did and it gave the bike a huge cosmetic boost. made the bike look worlds better......really ! It just works incredibly with the black engine as far as looks. best cosmetic mod ever. Pics don't do it justice, but heres one anyway.
