Nothing that we don't already know but Link Triumph customers are complaining that wheels on new bikes are corroding. The bike manual says that's because the machine needs to be washed and dried after each use.

Oh, wait a minute! You said this was all explained to you guys over there on some radio station in ENGLAND, didn't ya! THAT explains it then, alright!!!
Ya see, here in Arizona we don't have to do that!
(...I think it all has somethin' to do with the drier and warmer weather here)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

I wash my bike sometimes if I am near a coin operated wash and am bored. That caustic wheel and engine cleaner works great if you start with it and rinse it high pressure a few minutes later. Actually, I think the answer that guy got from Triumph really sucks!

That really does suck on Triumph's part. A bike should be able to live in the rain, especially for a lot longer than a couple of months. (Not that I would do that mind you, but come on, my bike gets washed only if it's in the rain.) They need to own up to their mistake, and fix the problem. Most people don't have a problem with mistakes, just when no one takes responsibility for them, and helps with a solution. They've now lost a customer, and he will be sure to tell everyone he knows. You would think all companies would take a lesson from Toyota, huh? ~Brent

Interesting report. So, in the interview Triumph says that the SE wheel cannot be laquered, hence the regular cleaning after each use. The SE has alloy wheels, so why aren't they laquered? The alloy wheels on my Speedmaster are laquered.

All wheels produced by Triumph now are not laquered, this is because they had lots of problems with the laquer peeling off and having to replace the wheels. So they decided to leave it upto the owner and if the wheels corrode then it's the owners fault for not looking after them.
I like the bit where they say the dealer has give him a refund and and he has bought a HONDA.

Maybe they should ask Honda how to make lacquer stick to a wheel.

Jeez, what crap that is. The SE is a beautiful bike that Triumph should be proud of. One would think they would put more pride into something they build so these want be running around in three years rusted to he11.

This just isn't making any sense. One bike's wheels ya can lacquer, the other ya can't. Meanwhile I have enough trouble understanding inter-dimensional pathways and now this!!
Live to love, love to live.
