He was a member here, haven't heard from him in a while. Always liked that bike except for the chrome tractor seat.

Rolled his own right-side jockey shift, too. Sweet bike. Hot rod style.

That shift linkage is very trick. He bascially used two complete forward control sets with some custom brackets. I don't recall the lady on the fender when I saw it at Butlers Orchard in '07.

I missed that one! I would have liked to look that one over! I did see a bunch of Speedy's and America's though. I was suprised to see some of them that still had the air injection intact. They were the ones with the blued or discolored pipes! There was 5 of us that rode out and we all had a good time and we got a chance to visit Triumph of Winber. A good bunch of people out there!

Very VERY nice lookin' "50s-style" Speedy there. And for some reason, the more I look at that chromed tractor seat, the more I'm kind'a likin' it, and maybe because it somehow matches the look of the chromed gas tank instrument cluster??? Though, I think that puppy MIGHT get "a smidgen warm" out here in sunny Arizona!

(...but sorry, while it looks like a very sanitary job of linkin' it all up, I'll never understand the reason one would convert a perfectly good foot-shift system to a jockey-shift which requires one to constantly take one's hand off the handlebars in order to shift gears?!)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Oh Dwight... don't start showing you age now. The REASON for hooking up that hand shifter is, well... because it's cool man!! Sometimes that's the only reason ya need!

Left side jockey would be cool with a foot clutch. What he has there is a suicide shift, a jockey shift in low and behind your leg and kind of looks like a jockey hitting his horse with his riding crop when you shift, hence the name.

Yeah, well, listen to Ian's definition of that setup there, Keith ol' boy...

The learned gentleman from NE Pennsylvania called it a "SUICIDE shift", didn't he?!

(and sooooooo, call me "Mister Safety First" here if ya want, but I THINK I'll stick with usin' my "un-cool" foot-shift setup, IF you don't mind!!!)

If you camp go to the ABATE at the fair grounds the other ABATE site down by the creek or river is a mud hole plus the fair grounds has toilets and sinks and showers not port-a-crappers.

Yea, or if you plan on getting a room somewhere you have to make reservations pretty early to get a room. I am fortunate enough to know the guy that runs the billeting at the aviation base out near the airport. The rooms are as nice as most hotels and only cost us $25.00. Great deal. and a good time!
