I have a golf cart that stalls out if I don't hold the choke out. Does anybody have any advise on what I should try to fix it. If I run it for five mins or more it seems to get better. I guess clean the carb but wanted to get some ideas before I tear it apart. It must be a fuel starvation issue of some sort, right? Thanks.

I think you're right about fuel starvation. Check the fuel filter beffore tearing the carbs apart

Hey great idea thanks. I'll do that first. Does that usually cause what seems like a cold engine situation like that?

MacGyver the choke out (clamp, duct tape, tee, bubble gum) and keep on playing!! And when it rains, take time to check the fuel filter.

Ha! You know Dwight I never thought it was the golf cart why people are one finger waving at me out there.

It can't be a HD it doesn't shake nearly enough for that I'll pull the fuel filter and let all y'all know how that goes.

If it's an AMF, even Harley purists knock 'em cuz they break down too much.

May be fuel starvation, may be a vacuum leak. Check manifolds, see if it has squirrel condoms that may be cracked, keep your left arm straight and follow through.

We rescued an old Harley golf cart from a local golf course boneyard. It gave up many years of good service, and is still a viable machine. Just needs a little TLC at the moment.

How to win a bar bet:
Start out by saying something along the lines of:

"Factory built Harley 3 wheeler..."

It's funny that a golf cart thread started here just a few weeks after my dad bought my wife a nice used Yamaha golf cart. She is having a lot of trouble getting around lately, and I even use it occasionally. It's fun!

So today I cleaned out the fuel line, turned the AF screw clockwise 1/2 turn (can't remember off hand if that is richer or leaner), and increased the idle a little. Figured I would tweak the free things first before springing for a new fuel filter. The manifold is metal coming off the carb and I couldn't find any squirrel condoms.
It's a yamaha btw.
And last but of course not least I'm running 10w30

While you're getting your cart all tuned up there Brett, I thought we could break for a look at some pretty interesting carts that are out there. Maybe while you're working on yours you could some custom body work done!!

That last one is a Segway scooter caddy!

Keith, gotta say I've never seen a segway "golfcart.he'She seems to run a little better just with my tinkering today. I think I'll have to give her a few days and a couple hundred yards of drive time to see how she's doing. Gotta admit it's hard not to slap a better air intake and exhaust on there and goose the jets etc...
