This is the 2010 MotoCzysz E1pc - built in Oregon (Soren's hobby?). It won the Electric version of the Isle of man TT. More importantly it is the first electric I've seen that isn't a bit silly looking(ok the rider looks a bit goofy posing on the pit stand but the bike looks good). The link is to a very good pop sci article on the subject: http://www.popsci.com/node/46461/?cmpid=enews061010

I wonder what it sounds like... I know someday, the engine as we know it will not be produced anymore and I will really miss the sound of a gas-powered engine/exhausts rumbling along.

Whatever they want it to sound like. They hook up a loud speaker to an MP3 player of motorcycle sounds.

That's actually not a bad idea...I think your on to something. You could sell MP3 files right off your site, Soren. TOR, Scepter, Specialty Spare, Epco...whatever.

I just had a vision (hallucination?) of that thing screaming down the track with the sound of Harley potato-potato-potato coming out of it's engine speakers... or maybe a 2-stroke lawnmower... or my Braun electric shaver...

Better yet... Instead of exhaust sounds...how about an MP3 track of your theme song of choice. I could play for my theme song: "Believe it or not I'm walking on air I never thought I could feel so free-ee-ee. Flying away on a wing and a prayer, who could it be? Believe it or not, it's just me."

http://www.motoczysz.com/videos/d1-10_dyno.htmltwo parts sportbike, one part jet engine. all bada$$. Mike's been building the sickest sportbike to ever come out of America (C1 998) and nearly dried up his substantial finances doing it... good to see him getting a measure of success with the e1pc. especially considering it was one of his staff that wanted to use a C1 frame to try the TTXGP as a side project, and in three months before last years race became the main priority of the company. I'd been wondering since then what the bike was capable of (she pulled a DNF at the first race) and I'm not at all disappointed.

Cool. I'll have to wait for the price to go down a bit. The entire drive package with batteries is $42,500. Then you have to build a motorcycle around it.

I hear ya Chris!! I too don't want to let go of the sound of the internal combustion engine. We could keep it I'm thinking, by burning hydrogen. Or maybe it's just that piston we like... so maybe compressed air powered vehicles might just 'do it' for us. I bet they got some 'THUMP!'
Live to love, love to live.
