Wow what a good night I had last night in London.

A couple of bruised ribs, a bootmark on my forehead, a couple of pounds in sweat lost, hearing loss and a cool T-shirt.

What a crap day today though. Ringing ears, neckache and a mother of all hangovers.

You just gotta love going on the front row of a Slayer gig.

I have never seen so many people getting carried out of a concert in a long while.

Anyhow I'm in the clip somewhere - you might recognise my hands throwing horns at the front just off centre.

I think I may be getting a bit too old for this stuff

Awesome! I got to see Slayer quite a few years ago and it was one of the most memorable shows I've seen. They opened with Raining Blood ...all I can say is wow...and that there was a sea of mosh the whole night.

I've seen Slayer and I love Slayer but as far as bands go they were kind of boring. They just stand in the exact same spot and play. Again, love the music just not that great of a show.

Agreed that they do just stand and bang their heads and what not...It's more about the sound, lights, crowd, and just the crazy energy.

Granted when I saw them it was in the early 90's and I was much more likely to participate.

Not sure if they are worth $60. I might get cheapseats the day of the show.

No more hangover and I can hear properly again.

I agree, as far as stage shows go they don't spend a lot of time on gimmicks.

The real stage show are the audience without a doubt.

Come to think of it I might have a couple of beers and watch it all again.

Slayer. Yeah, I get the appeal, the hype, the cult status. Maybe the best 'thrash' out there. Alternatively, if ya want to check out HUGELY amazing metal with a MASSIVE amount of stage presence and a TON of musicianship... have a look at this Nightwish video and/or this one too. Serious music, serious performances, serious sound!! I LOVE it (but admittedly it does wear me out)!!

I can see the obvious attraction Keith

They do sound good and a good stage show, very operatic, which put me off a bit.

Here's how women should do metal

I was supposed to see these in April but that bloody volcano erupted and screwed flights up into the UK so they postponed their tour until November.

The good thing about the music I love is that the bands from when I was (apparently) growing up are still going and they still draw the people to the concerts.

I can't believe Aerosmith are charging $104 for a ticket though. But The Scorpions don't seem to be too bad for the cheaper tickets.

From watching that video you posted of Arch Enemy I gotta wonder about the shape that chick's larynx must be in. But ya know... I'm demoing a vocal processor in my studio and it has a setting that makes my voice sound just like hers. Hmmm, I wonder if she's piping her voice through an effects pedal of some sort.

But thanks for the post Graham and keep on 'rocking in the free world.'
