Hey folks, I just learned the hard way that I apparently overtightened one of the sprocket cover bolts the last time. Hopefully Triumph keeps these in stock. I need one bolt so eloquently described by Triumph as "BOLT,RHHF,DOMED S/LESS M6X50 "RHHF, M6 X 50, S/LESS". Anyway, does anyone know the correct torque these should be on with? I figured it was only a cover and went via feel. Bad mistake. Apparently I ate my Wheaties that morning... Thanks in advance, Steve B.

Roadworthy,
Thanks! If you don't mind me asking, did you find this in the service manual or the operator's manual? I am just starting to work on my bike and didn't see it in the operator's manual. What began this was I think I'm leaking a little oil. Yesterday, I went for a 130 mile ride and when I returned I noticed two wet drips under the bike. Upon inspection, I had a coat of oil all over the bottom of the engine. This happened when the bike (05 America) was new (it now has 19,000 miles on it). It was determined that a few of the bolts on the bottom of the engine weren't torqued down correctly and loosened up. Once tightened by the dealer, all was well. Anyhow, I figured I also just oiled the chain, that may have been the issue also. So I started to clean up the bottom side of the motor and in doing so, snapped a sprocket cover bolt.
I guess it is time to order the service manual. In the meantime, can I trouble you for one more? What torque should the bolts at the bottom of the engine be? Trying to ease my mind and still get a few miles in today. I figure the sprocket cover should be fine with 4 out of the 5 bolts holding it.
Thanks,
Steve B.

I got it from the service manual. What bolts at the bottom of the engine are you talking about?

Roadworthy,
Thanks! I was talking about the eleven bolts that hold on the oil pan.

Well, I think I may have a legit oil leak, although a minor one. Just got back in from a short 30 mile ride. Noticed oil on the bottom of the engine right under the sprocket cover. Started thinking that the leak may be just oil from the chain, however, I noticed it is golden brown and not clear with some dirt in it. The golden brown color looks exactly like the Mobil 1 4T oil that I put in the bike. Once the engine cools (I learned my lesson already), I'm going to take a look at the sprocket. Gut instinct tells me the seal in there is going to be the culprit. Anyone have any experience with these? I'm thinking I may be taking her in a month early for inspection this year...
