For all of you out there in America and across the globe who have fought so hard to tackle the hideous enemy of our planet, namely carbon emissions, that bogus god you worship named "Climate Change" or "Global Warming", there is some really bad news that will be very painful for you to process.



But it is my duty to pass it on to you anyway.

ARE YOU SITTING DOWN?

Okay, here's the bombshell. The current volcanic eruption going on in Iceland, since it first started spewing volcanic ash, has, to this point, NEGATED EVERY SINGLE EFFORT you have made in the past FIVE years to control CO2 emissions on our planet.

Not only that, this single action has added emissions to the earth estimated to be 42 times more than can EVER be corrected by the extreme human regulations proposed for annual reductions.

I know, I know..... (have a group hug)...it's very disheartening to realize that all of the carbon emission savings you have accomplished while suffering the inconvenience and expense of driving Prius hybrids, buying fabric grocery bags, sitting up til midnight to finish your kid's "The Green Revolution" science project, throwing out all of your non-green cleaning supplies, using only two squares of toilet paper, putting a brick in your toilet tank reservoir, selling your SUV and speedboat, going on vacation to a city park instead of Yosemite, nearly getting hit every day on your bicycle, replacing all of your $1 light bulbs with $10 light bulbs ...well, all of those things you have done have all gone down the tubes in just the past week.

The volcanic ash emitted into the Earth's atmosphere since the eruption has totally erased every single effort you have made to reduce the evil beast, carbon. And, those hundreds of thousands of American jobs you helped move to Asia with expensive emissions demands on businesses... you know, the ones that are creating even more emissions than when they were creating American jobs, well that must seem really worthwhile now.

I'm so sorry. And I do wish that there was some kind of a silver lining to this volcanic ash cloud but the fact of the matter is that the brush fire season across the western U.S.A. will start in about two months and those fires will negate your efforts to reduce carbon emissions in our world for the next two years.

I'm intrigued - is this something you figured out personally or what? As far as I recall volcanoes are a very small source of greenhouse gases - a tiny fraction of human output. Is there something different about iceland?

Well now I don't feel so bad about idling my diesel when I run in to the corner store.

The ash causes cooling. That is a good thing, I think. A cubic mile of sulfuric acid haze into the stratosphere? Now that has got to be a bad thing.

Actually you cannot measure man made reductions unless you can measure man made pollutions. So how could you measure this volcano wiped out anything you cannot measure?

I would not be surprised to hear that it OFFSET 5 years of effort. It’s a massive natural event. But that is not the same as NEGATING the effort. If conservation prevented the release of ANY greenhouse gasses, the net total is still less.

Here’s the bottom line. If I ride my bike 50 miles instead of driving my SUV 50 miles, less greenhouse gases are emitted. That’s a good thing for the planet, and a good thing for my mood. So all I have to say is “Ride a Triumph, any way you look at it, its good!”

Everybody just relax... we're hurtling through space at some unimaginable speed. We do get off, every one of us, at some time... so, I'm with (dollar) Bill on this one and I quote, "... grab a beer, give the world a hug, and have a nice day!" Otherwise put a cork in it! A cork in the bottom of the deep blue sea I mean, out there in the Gulf... that would equate to 'having a nice day!!! I like my spaceship...

When Mount Pinatubo blew it put out more CFC gases than all of mankind in all history and caused a small blip in the ozone. Later the "experts" said that since the chemicals were not manmade it wasn't nearly as bad. But hey, DuPont made a lot of money on the more expensive, and patented, replacement so it's all good.

This whole thread cracks me up.

I'll only believe man made emissions are as bad as governments make out when the aforesaid governments start promoting motorcycles as a viable alternative to the car, instead of trying regulate us off the roads

Global warming debunked. I wonder if all the mud BP tried to shove down the pipe has had any effect? Whether it has ...and I hope it has I wish people would stop blaming barry about it. It was not his fault and he has had no expertise to stop the flow of oil anyway.

Why not? Over the past two hundred plus years when a crisis happened, it's always the current presidents fault. Isn't that the way the mind numbed masses think? You gotta blame someone.

I'm a little concerned about global warming but I am really p$ssed that BP is screwing up the Gulf. The Gulf is one of my favorite beach destinations, especially FL.

The same politicians who though crushing classic cars would save the world.
