Just wondering if there have been any threads on the new Thunderbird? I am kinda liking it but I have not heard much feedback, good or bad.

I would have used more that one word to describe my test ride but OUTSTANDING would not be one of them But we all see things differant All you can do is try it yourself

I really liked the way it felt to just set on though the tank is way to wide and would result in a childbirth type sitting position to ride.If the tank had the pinch in it like the pre efi americas/speedys did,it would be real nice I think.

Check out www.thunderbird1600.com Most of the fans hang out there. I don't even notice the wide tank. I notice the 250 lb. difference when I am backing it up. It handles amazingly well and is great on the slab. Plus it gets the same gas mileage as my TBA did with a bigger tank. I'm liking mine more and more after each mile. I have about 3,000 miles on mine. But I also like Americas/Speedies; and a lot of other Triumphs.

off the line, it will flat out smoke an America (even with 904 and almost 80rwhp) lower seat height still a Triumph!

Looked at a new 1700 the other day with an outstanding paint job! I think it would be a great bike. Bob posted a link in this thread with a great comparison between the TB and the HD Street Bob.
Live to love, love to live.

I don't know, I took my first ride on a 1600 Thunderbird today and I am still undecided. It has lots of torque down low but it feels like it runs out of steam on the top end. The belt drive is nice and smooth, I could hardly hear the engine running going down the road and I took it up to 110 mph. My bike feels snappier on the top end. A new exhaust might let it breath a little better and after reprogramming it might perform a little better as well. I still want a ride on a new Rocket Roadster and maybe a 1700 Thunderbird.

I've said that before (in other threads), the T-Bird doesn't have the same top end roll on power as my bike, in fact from 70-100+mph the America wins... but off the line, that's a different story. I agree with you about it running out of steam trying to hit the ton, I did it, but it took it a while to get there.

I didn't say nuthin bout what I thought of fatboys!
As I declined your most generous offer, I did mention that Second Wind BMW Triumph in NH is where I rode without restraints a thunderbird. And to tell the truth, I didn't want to ride yours first time on the Cherohala! Me loves Vera Lynn's touch...

The Triumph dealer was telling me that they are getting a lot of horsepower out of the Thunderbirds and that there is alot that can be done. He was saying that 150HP was obtainable. If you could pull that out of a Thunderbird that would be something that might spark my interest but I am still not crazy about the fuel tank and a couple other little things.

Stunning bike.... the America was a great bike but following my trip to the South of France i felt it underpowered. Got the 1700 with TORS and high flow air filter. Definitely not underpowered ;-)

I am not saying underpowered but the one I rode (1600) was awful flat above 70-75mph. It seemed like it took forever to get over 100mph. Again this was a 1600 and not the 1700 version or big bored bike. I think it should run better than it does on the top thats all.
