O D R, I moved my rear pegs foward and kept the clam shells, my wife finds this much more comfortable.I filed the two small posts off the the peg where it mounts to the clam shell.I busted off the threaded stud (just a small tack weld)that secures the peg to the clam shell. A little trial and error and I came up with an allen head bolt the size of the stud I took off the peg but long enough to go through the bracket on the peg and the clam shell into the threaded part of the frame. I removed the peg from it's bracket to get the allen wrench at the bolt. I put a rubber washer between the peg bracket and the clam shell to keep it from rotating. The clam shell is now secured with the top bolt as before(I replaced it with an allen head to match the one on the peg) and the longer bolt now going through the peg bracket. I found a round plastic retaining thing used for auto body work that is the exact diameter of the round indent where the peg used to be. I drilled a hole in the center and it secured to the clam shell with a pan head bolt. I then painted the whole unit semi gloss black just like the frame. I am very pleased with the way it looks and my wife is happy with the ride. Wish I could remember the size of the new bolts I used but I got every thing at home depot including the plastic filler piece. the job was much easier than it sounds and the peg seems just as secure as the original location when my wife climbs aboard.
