Does anyone have any knowledge or opinions on the appropriateness of running radials vs. bias ply tires on the SM or America? I'm interested in safety, performance, and milage info. Thanks

I have run both and really haven't noticed any difference. A bias ply can tend to flat spot from sitting more so than a radial and a radial is supposed to ride and handle better but I haven't noticed that.

I don't know about radial or bias. Mine are round and black.
Are they the same.

I couldn't tell you myself which would be the better tyre, due to the fact I've never owned a bias ply tyre and have only ever riden with radials, but heres a link that may give you some info, was quite easy to find, just typed your heading into google

Love that LMGTFY!! But it did win me disfavor once from a fellow member. Life in the fast lane I guess. As for the radial/bias thing... I never even thought to ask when I bought my most recent set. I wonder what they are...

Thanks for the Google help boys, but I had in mind to get personal experience feedback, one of the important advantages to having an owner/ rider website like this!

I don't know if you'll get much on radials here. The bikes come with bias and I think most continue to use them.
I have Metzeler ME880 front and rear and I'm quite happy with them.
Maybe you could be the first to test and report on radials, I don't think there will be that much difference on these bikes but who knows.
