Hi All,
Wondering if anyone can help. I have fitted Triumph short slash cuts and Norman Hyde air injection ilimination kit to my 05 america. And the popping is worse!
I have been told to back off the idle mixture; lean it.
On looking for the jets, under the carbs, mine seem to be blanked off. I thought only US and German market models were blanked off???
Sure my bike is a UK spec, were they ever blanked off or am I looking in the wrong place???
Any help mucho appreciated.
Cheers
Kenny

The screw to adjust is located up a recess in front of the carb heater connections, you need a D tool to adjust it.
I have a similar set up.
Shortened snorkel, short TORs, 125main (120 is standard)
screws are about two turns out from closed.
dont have any popping at all.

I have noticed the popping has pretty much gone away since I rejetted.
So, have you touched your carbs yet?

Also, try running fuel line instead of squirrel condoms.
Connect the vacuum port on each carb with the one on it's manifold.
My bike no longer pops with this mod.
Mind you, you have to eliminate the AI, rejet, and adjust the
air screws too.

My buddies call my bike "The Popcorn Machine" 'cause I make it pop on purpose. I am running very short straight pipes and alway give it a little burp on the throttle before droping down a gear so it will pop. I prefer to call it "cracking the whip". On the plus side my buddies can always hear me coming and have a cold one ready before my kickstand hits the ground. NR

Thanks for all the replies, have not touched the jets as yet a I was advised leaning the idle/pilot airscrew on each carb would do the trick by a well know Triumph expert/part company.
Only problem was looking up at the jet I could't see the slot for a screw driver. I assume I have to "obtain" the D-tool mentioned by NIbiker. Is it a service tool from Triumph??

You can flatten out one side of a piece of brake line to make your own or you can use small needle nose pliers or hemostats to remove them and carefully cut a slot in them to use a screwdriver (what I did) with a dremel and cutting wheel. You can buy a D tool or thumb type mixture screws here.

I just did the Brake line tool bit.. worked fine with a small flat side to make the D... located pretty much straight away.

Well I wasn't gonna say anything 'cause what do I know, but pulling that plug did it for me. And as Terry was saying, doesn't cost anything. And you can always plug it back in...

Just to add some light to this Ken, I (and many others) had a bad case of the poppity-pops which disappeared quite magically after disconnecting the TPS. It didn't work for everyone because there are so many variables such as pipes, jetting, intake and outtake. But you can read a fascinating journal about it right here.
