I had a floppy drive put in my current computer when it was put together just in case,I have never used it. I used to need it once in a while on my last computer for daughters school papers.I haven't seen a 5.25 floppy in many years.

I used to have a system with 8 inch drives. Warmed up pizzas pretty well.

I still have a 8 inch disk pined on my cork board. I also have a 12 inch 5Mb platter that cost over $1200 when it was new.

When I worked at Burroughs, we were making hard drives with up to 6 platters about 30 " diameter. They had a read/write head per track. To get all that mass spinning at a useful speed took a 3 HP motor.
