Rejetted carbs today and took the bike out for a test run 200+ miles, going great pulling like a train. Stopped off for a bite to eat and dry out a bit , goes back to bike, won’t start, nothing, no clicking, nada. Kill switch in run position (before anyone asks) Indicators, horn, brake light working OK, headlight not coming on when ignition switch turned on (not sure this is relevant) checked fuses all seem ok. Got home removed battery checks out fully charged. Help and suggestions much appreciated.

I have heard of blown headlights keeping the bike from starting. Check the fuse box again. You should get headlight as soon as key is on. Especially the back of box where the fuses plug into the little holders - they slip back and disengage sometimes. To eliminate the sidestand switch you should be able to start the bike with clutch pulled in regardless of sidestand switch. But it will die as soon as clutch is disengaged. You can also shove a paper clip into the sidestand switch after unplugging it to bypass it. Into the plug/wires, not the actual switch side...

Er, just to hi-jack the thread for a mo, but I want to point out that this bit:- Quote:

doesn't apply to newer bikes, they will not start in gear with the sidestand down, and will in fact cut out if in gear and the stand is put down. Oh, and the clutch always has to be engaged I don't think this applies to Bodgers bike though
And now we return you to the main feature

I agree with Dinqua, check those fuses. Thats really what it sounds like so far but I'm no mechanic.

"If in gear" I think is the relevant part there, our 04s will shut off if I put the kickstand down with it in gear. They remain running if in neutral.

Thanks for all replys. You were spot on Pat, back of fuse box 10amp fuse for headlight, connection loose. Cleaned up all connections installed battery, first press of starter off she went. Thanks again.

Glad to hear you've found the problem. Good to see that you followed Dinqua's instructions and tracked it down.
