Back from the polisher

If you're thinking of DIYing it, check out Caswell Inc. Good forums there with plenty of help. I haven't done my bike, but I did do some large pipes that were made into speaker stands for a buddy. Got all my supplies from Caswell.

I'm also thinking of doing the same. My wife bought me a 1/3 HP, 6" bench grinder for Christmas. Do you think the 1/3 HP model is large enough for the job on forks?
I also have a message into Fryguy on this subject and some recommendations for materials to order from Caswell's, he's the resident metal polishing expert.

Have you tried out your bench grinder yet? 1/3 hp should be plenty for the job.

I use a bench grinder for most of my stuff. The only problem is the size of the arms. Polishers tend to have really long arms.

You can buy shaft extenders if you need more room to position large pieces without hitting the grinder housing. Caswell sells them. Haven't bought these myself, so I can't give you a review on them.
