Welcome. Not sure where you are in VA, but some of the MD guys are getting together in Frederick for a late lunch after the Butlers Orchard event in May (Gaithersburg MD area).

Welcome to the best cyber community on earth! Just wondering about your handle... is that inspired by the old ballad "Wreck of the Old 97?" As kids we used to play that ol' tune over and over again on the old gramophone.

My grandfather was one of the first people to reach the site of the wreck. I drive by it regularly, but all the tracks and trestle are long gone ! Thank you all for the warm welcome !

Wow... that hits pretty close to home! It's interesting that your grandfather was involved with that crash. Certainly explains your handle.

It is always good to see another Triumph rider in Va. Even better if you are in Richmond area. Let me know where you are in Va. I am trying to work out going to the meet and greet in Maryland that was posted above. I will try and be as much help as possible but people on this site know alot more than me.

Welcome--it's a mighty rough road from Lynchburg to Danville and it lies on a three-mile grade...or so I hear!
Figured it wouldn't hurt to add details as the M&G was mentioned twice--hope you can join us on May 15 (rain date is May 23 after the Butler's Orchard Classic Bike Show) - please see this thread

I am in Danville at the southern end of that three mile grade !! I don't know about that Md. trip. Down here there are very few multi-lane roads and hardly any traffic. That area up around Frederic is a little out of my league !

I here you n that one. I'm in Hagerstown, cornfield country. The date of the MD meet is the 15th I believe, not the date of the Butlers Orchard event. I'll be at a company related Poker Run in Alexandria VA on the 15th - talk about your big city traffic. The poker run last year ran on parts of the DC Beltway and 95 - on Memorial Day weekend no less. At least they changed the date.
