Saw one of these on a bike in downtown San Francisco:

http://www.grip-lock.com/Grip-Locks/

Looks pretty nifty, and portable enough to throw in a jacket pocket. Anyone have personal experience, especially with regards to durability?

I know it's not a foolproof solution, but a little added security can't be bad, right?

Looks like a pretty good idea if it works. Costs £45.

You thought that was funny, how about this; "Grip-Lock is Kiwi ingenuity - a world first." Do they mean it's the first time Kiwi's have been ingenious?

Always remember to be yourself. Unless you suck. Then pretend to be someone else.

Seems like the right padlock would serve the same purpose for a lot less $$$. Maybe one of those adjustable shackle ones.

Well Dave, that ad copy might've just been an unfortunate choice of words there. For you see, and as you may already know, this little number pictured below was also the brainchild of another ingenious Kiwi by the name of John Britten....

(and BTW Brett...I doubt this Grip Lock would make it that much harder for some lowlife who really wants your bike from throwin' it into the back of their pickup or van....but it does look well-made alright!)

My '49 Triumph and '39 HD both had a security system that prevented that. The frame was too slippery with oil to pick up.

What would stop anyone of just cutting the brake cable and roll off with the bike?

HEY NOW, SpeedyKiwi! I'll have you know that I'm VERY proud to say I made it all the way to the SEVENTH grade before my junior high school principal finally said..."THAT'S enough! Get that friggin' Argo kid OUTTA HERE!!!"

(however, I WILL forgive your impertinence here IF you can find me a really good deal on one of those Britten V1000s over there, like the one I showed Dave here a picture of in this thread...now don't dilly-dally...you DO want my forgiveness here, don't cha???!!!)

I had a look at an Indian Scout 2 months ago. It had been modded somewhat and sat kinda low. Used to be ridden by some old chappie from Inversomethingorrater or something. However I dont think that puppy is for sale either.

Hmmm, would make a better belt than a hat (if you ask me).
