Without looking at my bike it looks a little like the cable guide on the triple tree except in terrible shape (not shiny and clean).

It could also be the vent hose guide just behind and under the transmission on the left side.

I knew I'd seen something like it, just not exactly under the triple tree. Here you go:

That's under the top right oil cooler mount and it holds the kick stand switch harness out of the way. I think Gregorz is quite right, though, that clip isn't the same thing and didn't come off a stock bike.

I had one of those come off my bike - 05 BA - It is the hose guide for the rear brake line - just in front of the rear brake caliper you should see a hole behind the shock on the left side of the bike in front of the rear brake where the bolt that holds it on should be. Mine came off about a month ago when I was changing my brake pads. that is why I recognize it

Well that was a wrong call!!the one right behind the caliper is silver and three inches tall. So thanks but no thanks
