I wished I'd gone out on the bike today but I had a bit too much to do around the house and wanted to give the bike a bit of a tidy and lube the chain.

It's not a bad day and there are some good tunes on the radio so i'm sat outside singing along to the radio polishing bits off the bike and I got the cat sat next to me inspecting my handiwork.

I'd just finished polishing the console and stupidly said to the cat "whatta ya think of that then?"

I could have died when I heard "not bad" from behind me.

It was our local vicar putting leaflets through the door and wondering what on earth sort of people live in his parish.

Mind you when he asked me the name of my cat, because he'd seen him roaming around the churchyard before, he was a bit taken aback to find he was called Diablo.

To his credit his reply was outstanding "oh so I see the devil has found something for idle hands to do today."

So the moral is ride whenever possible and if you do want to talk to animals make sure you look over your shoulder first.

Before the war on terror, if I saw an unattended package I used to think "I'll be having that!"

Yep Graham, and there for a second you thought you might've had a "Doctor Dolittle moment", huh?!

(and yeah, the vicar's reponse WAS pretty darn good, comin' off-the-cuff like that and all!)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

If I could talk to the animals, just imagine it …
Chatting with a chimp in chimpanzee
Imagine talking to a tiger, chatting with a cheetah
What a neat achievement it would be!

If we could talk to the animals, learn all their languages
Maybe take an animal degree
I'd study elephant and eagle, buffalo and beagle
Alligator, guinea pig and flea.
