Yikes......
ran my 08 America over weekend with 3k on the clock just to get her ready for the "Spring" its snowing as I write this however noticed a weep of oil on cylinder head!
WHAT!!!! I know wot it means but cant believe it!!
She has already had a re-call due to engine management light coming on when it rains....packed the sensor with grease was the solution.
Howay man I love the motor and its been spoiled since I got it but after 3k it should not be giving me grief and costing hard earned ££££
not pleased.
anyone else got similar probs with America?

Mike

It's not a "problem", it's a characteristic! Nothing that a dab of RTV on the cam cover gasket won't fix...
It's just her way of asking you to get to know her a little more intimately! Break out the tools and have a date-night with your new gal...

And here's me having issues with my bike.... that I'm convinced is MALE!!

From the one who's been out riding today in the wind and rain and rode home from work last night in rain that was worse than coming back from Dent last year!

Hey mrt what is "RTV"? I mentioned this in a very similar thread with a pic, but mine leaks a bit of oil too. I tightened the valve bolts, as recommended and that seemed to help. But I'm thinking that might be a good idea to do this RTV trick.

Some of us girls don't go for the whole "Spoiling" thing...makes us suspicious about what you have either already done or are wanting to do or buy.

I have to admit, my America didn't seem to like wintering either and refused to start first try at all, but now that it's been out a couple short rides, it starts like a champ each time.

I think bikes get jellous when you take the cage to work instead. Hee hee hee!

RTV is "Room temp vulcanizing" Pretty much standard silicone. When you go to buy some make sure it says oil resistant. Usually it's black.

here is a link I googled about the same topic. Hope this helps. NR
