It was suggested to me after I posted my last dyno results I should chuck my K&N filters and replace them with DNA Pods instead.

Does anyone have a viewpoint on this suggestion? Apparently they are superior but I would need to be totally convinced before scrapping the.K&N's cos I've actually got my bike to run the best it ever has.

Tell you what, my bike is at the shop now awaiting return to me for 813 cams & an a/f meter. When I get it back the first thing I'm going to do is optimize the carbs (carbys for the K&N's & then install a set of Uni pods & see what happens.

If my theory is correct I will then optimize for the Uni's & head to the dyno.

The tech who did my cams said the the bike picked up approx. 8 HP with the cams alone with no other tuning. And it is now lean on top with the new cams where before , all other things equal; it was rich with the OEM cams & same jetting.

From my perspective you would be better off going straight to the Uni's. But we shall see.

More to follow as available...

I have a set of DNAs. Haven't tried to fit them yet BUT it looks like they wont fit if you have a FREAK kit installed, they are bit long.

Why not use u -shaped tubes? It looks kind of cool having the filters facing forward. Is this possible with our bikes and am I making any sence?

Almost anything is possible with the correct talent & resources. I saw a custom Triumph twin built by a guy named Totti in Italy. He turned the engine 180 degrees so the carb intakes faced forward & the exhaust ports faced rear, & built the frame accordingly. It was HIDEOUS. No way, no how did it look right.

I understand what you are trying to communicate, but that said, it makes no sense at all from my perspective.

That would be great if you could do that Ken. Personal bum dyno impressions are good from good reliable sources but whilst not everyone is a fan of actual dynos, I reckon they are a better indicator of real power improvements provided certaln protocols are adopted ie same machine and properly trained ops as a start.

In saying that, I have a freak kit which complicates what would normally be an easy conversion. Not that this can't be gotten around if the differences are compelling enough. Might be a good reason to buy one of those battery relocation kits but as you say, we'll see.

Looking forward to the results Ken.

Hey Mike, thanks for the link. I only got a chance today to read it and Found it pretty convincing, especially the first few posts.

Some of those blokes over there on ratnet are pretty thorough with their research. I take my hat off to them.

Cheers

No problem Staffo. I've carried out much testing with them and they flow better than UNI's and easily better than the K&N cones.
