I was just looking at some of the pics in the archive, and I see that a few riders out there have some nice aftermarket handlebar grips on their bikes....Mannycast has 'em on his Speedmaster for example.

Any idea who makes 'em?

Hi Bruce,

They are Kuryakyns and many of us have them. I personally love them.

$60 from Ma's Cycles

She's a little dirty, this is right after the buckhorns and Kuryakyn install

How difficult is installation of the ISO grips? They look terrific, by the way.

There were some problems last year with them but these were worked out. The latest batch are awesome as far as fit!!

I installed them in about 30 minutes with 3 (or was that 4?) beer breaks
and it went very smooth and simple.

...and thanks!!

(I believe there is a thread here about the installs people have done)

I went retro. It matches up well with the fork gaiters. These gran turismo grips are comfortble and go with the blacked out Speedmasters. Got mine off of ebay.

Ma's Cycles has a kit for the Kuryakyn grips.

I have a pair of plain leather with chrome ends on my bike. The hardest part about installing theses grips were getting the stock ones off. They are a little larger in diam. than stock, but much more comfortable.

Phil,

Nice picture, I have a set of buckhorn handlebars in the back bedroom. I hope to install them tomorrow. Bars from j&p cycles, I believe the same set as yours & a few other select members roaming this site. Installation appears pretty staightforward, any hints from the voice of experience?

BTW' Is that primer paint on your tank? Are you going to buck up and finally paint it RED?? Does your cycle license endorsement cover RED motorcycles from England??

hehehe..

Red? Are you nuts? Black is the only color for things that go fast!

That pic is a crappy one taken when she was dirty. I cleaned her up for tomorrow so I will take some new ones of the bars and post them.

The install went very easy but I also added the Kuryakyns at the same time so I never had to remove the stock grips. Are you going to try to retain them?

I hung wires from my garage ceiling and tied the controls up out of the way so there was no strain.

Just planning on changing the stock handlebars for the buckhorns right now. I also realized that Robert included the font colour option for an applicable & reasonable reason. Thanks Robert!

OK, everybody pay attention...I emailed Kuryakyn regarding which grips to use on my America. They directed me to part #6240, the Universal Fit ISO Grip for 1" bars. THESE DO NOT FIT YOUR BIKE!! I now have a pair of these for sale if anyone wants them. They squeeze the factory throttle body so hard that it won't snap back after you let it go. Sort of acts as a VERY unwanted cruise control. Before anyone asks, yes, I did dremel off the "fins" from the stock sleeve to get a better fit. Soooo...I bought the replacement OEM grip/w throttle sleeve and slapped it on there. Then...low and behold, I discovered Ma's Cycles. They have correctly identified the grips needed as part #6236. These come with a replacement throttle body, and went on quick and easy. Now my grips match my pegs! You can order these from Ma's or direct from Kuryakyn. Hopefully I can save somebody $60 just because a dealer knows more about the product than the manufacturer does!
