I got one from my local dirtbike shop.
5/16 is a little harder to find but they are out there.

You could even try a Harley(spit) shop too

Is 5/16" definately the correct size? I noticed Fast Eddy sells 1/4" filters. I was just going to do this today and want to be sure.

Thanks. Did the swap today. Only problem was the filter came with clips that were too big!
Had to run up the street to the local dealer and after searching the whole building he found some generic 5/16 retainers.

Nothing stupid about your question... what's happening here is there is a small hidden and ridiculously hard to get at filter down between the carbs. A lot of us have removed that thing and replaced it with a more sensible in-line filter where it can be easily accessed.

It's an inline fuel filter, used to replace the stock "hidden" internal fuel filter.

5/16" is correct.

I ordered a filter from Fasteddy, when it arrived it was 1/4 inch one

I haven't tried to fit it yet.

That is strange. I went ahead and put this one on. 5/16 and it fit well.
The clips they sent with it were too big but that's another story....
