Im new to the Bonneville America forum. I have an 09 America its my 3rd Triumph. Has anybody with a fuel injected America made any changes to the air box or air injection systems? I dont think an air box removal kit is available yet.

I have an '02 with carbs, so I'm no help, but welcome to the forum!

As any owner of a '03 I can't help you either. Otherwise welcome to the forearm!

Haha, I could have left the part about the '02 with carbs off, and it would have been even MORE accurate!

The only one I know of is Davo (you'll find him in the Users' list) who removed the airbox and runs twin K&N pods. I don't know if this is his current set up though. You would be advised to get Tuneboy so you can do your own custom mapping if you are going to make big air intake changes.

Cheers, Richard

+1 You will probably have to remap.

My 09 America runs fine. 2 up and loaded it has enough grunt and torque to cruise comfortably.
However I am thinking of new pots and pistons in about 160,000 k’s, maybe a 904 conversion , time will tell I guess. I bought my America for what it is. It’s a mid-range cruiser.

If I wanted to do 200k or so I would have bought another bike. I had a 06 Speedy, spent quite a bit of money on it, to make it faster. While it was a bit faster it wasn’t REALLY FAST. I was considerably out of pocket.... If you like the style and the brand and want to go fast, how about the R3 Roadster . Man that’s fast. Really fast. Having ridden one I can say you need Gorilla-Arm-Grip at WOT for that puppy. It’s priced well over here a tad more than the new T-Bird, and I am tempted, it’s a no-brainer really.

But for now my America is just fine, after I had put some respectable pipes on it.

I have removed the airbox on my EFI speedy, The kit fits but obviously you will be paying for the jets which you will not be using, If I could do it over I would be doing a battery relocation setup, alot cheaper.
I used the airbox elimination kit from british customs, almost $300, I can't really see the value in it.

What it can't reach it spits at.

Hi Davo ... what's your latest set up - any changes? Any tweaked Tunes you wanna share?

Cheers, Richard
