I haven't seen this posted yet, and when I was looking to do it I talked to some members who explained it to me. But thought I would attach a picture for others that might need some guidance. 1/4 inch X 1 1/2 inch bolt ($.08) 1/4 inch nut, washers and locking washers ($.08) 1/4 inch by 7 1/2 inch turnbuckle ($1.19) [image] [/image] If this needs moved to the tech vault, I couldn't decide where would be most appropriate to post it.

Ok here are some pictures of it installed. I never thought of a stainless one. That would look pretty cool too. I wasn't sure how to post in the tech vault. Thought maybe I had to have 1000 posts just like the secret photo section to post in there [image] [/image] [image] [/image]

Nice. I did the same thing when I gutted the airbox over the winter.
How's your bike running with the 155 main jet? I assume you have pretty much an open exhaust? I'm trying to rejet my 2007 BA after gutting the airbox and fabricating an exhaust (with a small baffle). Already have a 45 pilot and just tried a 140 main, which seems close. I didn't know whether the 865 bikes could handle a 155 or even 150 main jet. Anyone have experience to share?

One don't have to "look closely" to see the tie. But I guess no one sees it from a stand up position.

Zip ties are the best thing since the little metal twisty things u get with garbage bags

ya know there is something to be said about using a zip tie because when youre working on the carbs a "proper" brace can be a little annoying to work around. I remember for a while not even having a brace cause I didnt know you needed one, then when I added the turnbuckle I was a little annoyed...haha

I made a very similar bracket long time ago. Works well. I used a threaded fish eye bolt and cut the eye so it was more like a hook and made a bracket that connected to the frame that it threaded into. web page Hope this picture comes in.

For what its worth, heres mine. Saw the price that Brent and Co, wanted. Filed a length of ally I had lying around and £2 at the powder coaters. Must do the same job for such little money. Good luck with yours. Cheers Chris

gease? how thick is that thing...haha And does the top cross brace of the carb go through it? So if you were working on the carbs you'd have to take the whole thing off the motor mount? You mentioned having someone doing the carbs for you?....good thing cause that'd be driving you crazy working around that, and rejetting a couple times.

Ok this is getting a little off topic, but I relocated my battery. Sorry Tom I decided I wanted to try it myself. I may some day give you my business depending upon how well this mod works. Anyway, as I was ziping my wires down I found these two thingys. I think they may have been attached to my air box, but I can't remember. Can anybody identify these thingys? [image] [/image] Thanks

Dont know what they are for but they are just tucked away under the carbs. Didnt come from your airbox and dont need connecting to anything. My brace does look huge in that photo its only 5mm thick, honest.
All the best

Dont sweat it Brett, I didnt invent it, I just popularized it. If I didnt want anyone to build their own I wouldnt have posted a how to thread about it. I'm not exactly rolling in money building these, its more about just helping others out and being "the bracket guy" on the website honestly...haha
