over time I have accumulated various bits for these bikes, yesterday I was looking at an extra set of intake manifolds off of a thruxton. these are basically the same manifold as the ones for the SM/America but they are longer by almost a 1/2 inch. Has anyone tried running the longer manifolds? They could/should have some effect on torque/ low end.
any thoughts?

looking at it some more, I don't think that I can get them in there with the FCR's they are pretty much back up to the frame right now.

How much of a difference did you notice after installing the FCR Carbs? Was it a worthwhile addition? Did it take much to dial them in? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I installed the FCR's in late october and only got a few rides in before winter over took me. They are not quite dialed in exact but pretty close. I have an a LM2 air/fuel meter set on order and if spring ever gets here I get the fine tuning done quickly. Are the FCRs worth it? A definite yes, a huge difference in roll on, and fast rpms straight out of the box.

doesn't the Thruxton have a different intake angle that won't work on the BA or SM?

that is what I had heard a number of times. but looking at the manifolds they appear to the same angle. The rubber boots that connect the to the carbs are inverted. The boots look to be the same part just rolled around the manifold 180 degree the change the angle. makes sense, more common parts for the factory.
I dug into it a little further yesterday and it is my throttle linkage running into the frame with the FCRs that would prohibit the use of longer manifolds. I had to modify the throttle cable housings to clear it as it is now, unfortunately no more room left.
