Just saw this today folks. Seven new models in the next two years. Here's the article: http://www.bikernet.com/roadtests/PageViewer.asp?PageID=3121One of the sweet special edition bikes - available this year - is this T-bird 1700 with Phantom Red Haze paint. This is an awesome bike...

Saw that on the site. Great colour. Wouldn't mind it on a Speedy or America.

That color is awesome. I'm with you, I would love to see that on an America/Speedy.

All the new models listed in the article are appearance modifications of existing models. Some nice looking bikes no doubt about that but I have been watching for the rumored "Trophy" for a while. But I'm sure there is a lot of bike inventory to be moved before they can start production of a for real new model. Although even that would most likely be based on the 1050 engine and a chasis very similar to an existing bike. But if it is cool and a real touring bike I'm gonna want one!

I got an email saying Triumph was going to "expand" from the three existing "familes" (Classic, Urban Sport, Cruiser) to seven total families. From 16 models across the three familes now, to a total of 23 models across seven familes, by the end of 2012. Motorcycle.com I'm thinking Scooters, Off-road/motocross, maybe a Goldwing-like Rocket, Kid's bikes (50cc,80cc), and hopefully some smaller displacement motorcyles that might realize much better fuel economy for street use. 125's, 250's, 350's, 500's....like the good old days! What I don't want to see is just adding more "Special Editions" of already existing models. Those are okay, but to me, that is not a "new model", and it would not constitute and expansion of families, either.

I heard 3rd hand that Triumph had 5 running 500cc single prototypes.

That would have to be a good thing triumphs cruiser line has way to many gaps in it. I'm thinking 250,500750, upthe current 865 to 900, maybe something in the 1200 range, and for gods sake build a 1600 series of bonnies, then the 2300. that should round it out nicely. And bring back the scalloped tanks the new tanks look like everything else on the market.

I would love a smaller version a bonnie type bike, basically a 500 twin standard, or dedicated offroad duelsport bike in line with the new ktms and Husky's

If they produced a line of 250cc singles, they would then be able to be used by learner and probationary riders in a lot of international markets. Hence allowing someone to purchase the brand they really want right from the start, and not risk falling into the hands of other manufacturers that offer 250cc entry bikes...

In the U.S., Honda has already cornered the learner bikes. I don't think smaller than 500 would make any sense for triumph - too much competition. I think for cruiser bikes 500, 900-1000 (update of our 790-865), 1600-1700, and 2300 splits up the range with enough cc choices.
I owned a '71 Daytona which was a twin carb 500cc version of the Bonneville. I think there would be a market there at half the size of the next twins. Could be a nice addition to the "classic" cruiser series. You wouldn't be able to use the Daytona name though.
