Yep my fellow Trumpers.... Today My Son got his Private Pilot's License! He started taking flying lessons at 16 yrs. of age and had to make a huge sacrifice! he made a hard choice but decided to sell his Cardinal red 2002 Triumph Bonneville America which he loved in order to continue flying. Many set backs over the last 3 years... Time, Money and College But today he did it! I am all teary eyed and smiling from ear to ear! Back in my day I'm really not sure I could have done what he has accomplished at 19!

My grandfather and uncle loved to fly. We just recently finished selling all of my uncles planes and all his projects and airplane parts. He was killed in a car accident about a year and a half ago. I am going to buy his house which has a small runway that he used to land and take off from. I miss talking to him and hearing all his stories and watching him land and take off too. He was a wealth of knowledge when it came to planes and guns.

But congratulations on your sons achievements!!

I was really sad for both of you when I heard he was selling his bike. I know how much you enjoyed riding with him, but it sounds like it was well worth it. Now he can get out there and get a job flying and buy a new bike... for both of you!

Please, pass my congratulations on to him!

I know how nervous I was when my son first started flying...I think I was more nervous of letting him try his wings with an instructor than I was in taking my own lessons. It is such a great moment when they solo. Congrats!

I got my private license back in 1969 when I was 20. I had given up motorcycles when I was into flying. Now I haven't been current in many years but ride motorcycles again. There was a period in the 70s-80s I got really into sailing. I don't do that anymore either.

Flying is a wonderful high. Nothing like flying a small plane. Somewhere in the future, he may get back into bikes.

Thanks Guy's for all the kind words. Nathen and Paul he still talks about riding with you guy's, I'm sure he will have another bike someday. He took me Flying yesterday and we had a blast... I was his first Passenger as Lic. Pilot in Command! He did great and landed perfect right down the middle in a 90 deg. 15kt gusting 20 left crosswind... we were crabbing on final, I was really proud for sure

Here are a couple of before and after pic's. The first is him at 16yrs. old on the Talimena byway with his Triumph America and the second is him standing by the plane after we got back from flying!
