Hi again! It has been awhile since we last posted. My husband has been gone for a while (military) and we need to drain the gas from the bike since it is old and since we are moving. He movers require the gas and oil be drained. Can anyone give us guidance on how to do this. Please keep in mind that this is my husbands first bike so we are very green!!! Thanks!!

I'd remove the fuel hose from the petcock and replace it with a longer piece of the same diameter hose to the desired container and turn the petcock to the reserve position. That will get most of the fuel out of the tank... but I'm thinking you're going to have to remove the tank and turn it upside down to drain it completely.

Drain the gas? Ride it for a while! Hit the reserve. Then do what Chy said.
Always remember to be yourself. Unless you suck. Then pretend to be someone else.

Of course, if you've got an EFI then I think you'll have to take the tank off The pump will stop any flow

Get some on-base motorcyclist to help you in your husbands absence, it's a pretty simple task. We'll assume your bike is a carburated model. As mentioned, just release the spring clip to the petcock (under rear, left side of the tank). Depending on how full the tank is, you can just drain into a cup at a time. That might be easier than fitting a longer hose to drain it all at one shot. Each carb has a drain screw underneath. A small dixie-cup fits underneath to catch the gas in the carbs. Maybe someone here leaves near Ft. Benning and can lend you a hand?
