Hey folks! I am back in business:)))) ordering my new 200 back tire and stuff. Coming up with pictures:)

But have a question: how wide can we go with the handlebare and how high (backwards) with original cables????

I want to go 4-6" up and backwards 2" if I can. Is it possible?

Rock Hard!!!! geijo

I put 12" apes on mine and it's about the max I could go. I'm actually going to order cables because I also have a set of 16" bars I may use, and when I put the bars to the left, the cables look really stressed now. I had a longer brake cable, so not sure if that would have fit.

4 1/2" up and 1 1/2" back, used America cables and brake line.

Good question.... I'm considering buckhorns and kinda hoping I don't have to do anything with the cables. And I say this while considering I'd really like to keep the RIVCO risers too.

I have been looking at the T-Bars available through the Triumph Accessories for the Thunderbird. Does anybody know if the handlebar mount spacing on the triple tree is the same from the Thunderbird to the America? I think that these bars apear to have about the same rise and pull-back that you are looking for.

x2 or any other application with our(America/Speedmaster) same measurements?

If I just read right in another thread the Tbird and R3T share a different spacing than our bikes or the R3s for the risers. So I guess the answer is no the Tbird T bars won't work. The spacing is the same has HD on our bikes though so you have a large selection to choose from to fit some T bars or other risers/bar combo. The only thing is HD uses 1/2" studs and we use 10mm so you either need to make or buy adapters or drill your tree to fit HD risers.

Thank you. So would it matter what the thread type is? Like a 1/2 inch course thread, or just as long as the bolts (risers?) fit the T bars after the tree has been drilled out to fit the larger/correct size bolts? I would love to take the easy way out by simply bolting on the T bars with drilling out the holes if possible...

Most HD risers (all I have come across) use 1/2" X 13 threads. There are adapters for sale that have the 1/2" on one side and the 10mm on the other if you would rather not drill.

Could one use adapters and run cables internally or would you need the 1/2" style bolts only?
Sorry for grinding this down as only such a newb could do, but I have only "seen" pictures of non triumph bikes with this style & those havent been up close in person to see what it intails. Just assumed it is all pretty straight forward once I had the easy part of "hey these are the same size of our bikes"...

Well the bolts have nothing to do with hiding the wires since they exit the bars between the risers. In the top pic I posted you can see the braided stainless covering coming out from between the risers.

You can see it in this pic of Wendy's bike too where I hid the wires inside the bars.

I have heard that running the wires internally is a nightmare of a job. I love the way it looks though, and am planning on giving it a shot. Is it as bad as I have heard? Do you have any pointers? Are there any special tools that I should have to help with the project? How long should I give myself for this project?
Thanks for the help

I ran my Iso grip bar end mounted turn signal wires thru the bars and had the wires exit between the risers much the same as you did, however I did not think about drilling & running the rest of wires for the controlls (nicely done sir). I was thinking that with using T-bars that it could be possible with some hollow bolts, allowing the wires to cleanly exit under the top clamp into the headlight... Is this possible?

One pointer I can give is to use shrink tube, don't tape. Tape is more bulky and there is limited room to start.

Another pointer is to stagger the cuts so the solder joints are not next to each other. Same reason as above the solder joints are fatter than the wire so all of them next to each other makes the bundle too fat.

3rd, take the bars off and go do it on a table infront of the TV, it will make the job much easier.

Alright... about to pull the trigger on a set of t-bars pending size suggestions. Is there a clearence issue with any bars on our bikes? I was thinking of 29" width, 6" rise & 4" pull back. What would be the closest measurements to our stock bars? Or with our speedo / headlamp would an 8" rise look be more suited (opinions please)I just want to clean up the front and add some more black. Thanks in advance for the input.

I ran into an issue with Wendy's risers hitting the dash but I think those had only a 3" rise and 3" pull back. I put 1/8" spacers under the risers and made the steering stop wider.

These are what I put on mine with stock wires. They are 2007 Hardley Heritage Classic bars. I think they are 6 to 8 inches.

I'm waiting for a pr of hardley western 102 from thehandlebar company from NewZealand.

http://www.thehandlebarcompany.com/harley-davidson-handlebars.html

To get the most comfortable position for me I got them to build an extra 2" rise so I could use a set of 900 series black
billet aluminium short risers from Joker Machine. Not cheap which is normal for me but absolute quality and with the bars will look and feel briliant. http://www.jokermachine.com/itemtriumph2004.asp?ItemID=648&CategoryID=76&Placeholder=

To get here I've spent, or is that wasted, a bit of coin but that's part and parcel of improving your bike I resckon. I've actually been afterva set of bars with short risers for some time but needed to try a set before knowing if they'd work for me. The other reason is, I've been waitng for the short risers before I try to internalise my electrical wiring in the bars.

So that's my next project and I'm still looking into the Acewell speedo for my birthday.

Hi Staffo,

Did you ever get the handlebars fitted?

I also got a set from the handle bar company, (width is 34' the rise 8' pull back 8'). I always knew I would have to get the cables extended but I think I am going to have to extend the wiring as well.

Does anyone know if you can buy the triumph electrical blocks so I can extend this way as opposed to cutting and soldering of joints (or just buy connector bocks and cut all stock blocks – last resort) until I go Internal wiring later on down the track. Or has some advice on this

To get the clutch and speedo cables I have to send them away to get lengthened as they use the original connector ends, has this been the same for everyone else, cheers

I am at the stage where its getting to costy to do this at the moment if I have to go extending everything
