Thinking about next performance upgrade and don't know if it should be FCR carbs or cams. Present set up is 904BB, heads ported, freak, Bubs. Valves and carbs are stock. Because I didn't have the valve sizes increased when the head was in the shop, I'm not sure if changing the carbs or cams is going to be worth the money - or dosen't it matter? If both carbs and cams will make a difference then I will do one of them this year and one next year. Just don't know which to do first. Thankful for any help on the matter.

Carbs for hp and cams for torque.
Just a thought, Fast Fred is back and doing his carb work again, he called me the other day. Here is a link to the thread from his stock carb bore wok with dyno results. (long thread though)

If you have a 790 then I would recommend carbs first. However, if you have an 865 then I recommend cams first. I realize you have a BBK, but which cams do you have in it?

Glad to know that FF is back in the saddle. I plan to send him my carbs.

tom,
go with carbs. I have been both routes and still have megacycle cams in my bike. The difference is noticable, but if I had to pay full price (I paid $400 for mine, no swap) I don't think that the difference is worth the $7-800 the cam guys are charging. I got a couple more ft/lbs of torque but actually lost 3 hp in the exchange. The carbs added some more hp back though.

Thanks for the help. I'm going with the carbs. Fast freddy sounds like a good possability. Need to do a little more research.

Does anyone know Freddys web address? I've tried to Google Fast Freddy and just get a bunch of sports bars, hair sollons, and gay bars. If he changed his name to Mergatroid he would have a lot less competition on the internet.
