I put new braided lines on last weekend and tried...operative word to bleed the brakes for a 1/2 hour...#&$^%*$. I can get little spits of fluid and air then fluid but still no "peddle" on the front or rear. Does it just take forever or do I have something messed up. No leaks anywhere and I don't think I am pulling air. Went over all the connections twice. If it is just that tough, OK. BUt $*%&% this is taking forever!!!

Yes, it does take quite a while and it's really handy to have a helper, either a pumper or a valve closer. Even with no fluid escaping you still have to close the bleeder valve every time you pump the lever/pedal to purge the lines; added plus is that you also have to keep a sharp eye on the reservoir at the master to keep it from running dry. It'll take some time, twice as long by yourself. Squeeze, open bleeder, lever/pedal bottoms out, close bleeder, repeat.

Hey Joe, I know your pain. I put new braided lines on my xs1100 the other day and still don't have any front brakes. It is taking way too long. I must have a problem somewhere. The back brake was no probem at all. I am confused

Front brakes are always harder to bleed effectively because the master is so much farther above the caliper and allows the air bubbles to become trapped easily.
Try Dinqua's sure fire method, once you get a little back pressure from the front pads button it all back up and tie the front brake lever at full lock with a bungee overnight. This will force the bubbles back up the line and the next morning you can finish off with just a couple of pumps.

+1 Ed, but the dinq also tapped the brake line all the way from the caliper to the reservoir before releasing the bungie.

You can use a piece of clear plastic tube that fits tightly on the bleeder nipple. Run that into a CLEAN glass jar with fluid in it so that the plastic tube is covered. Pump the brake and you will see the bubbles as you force the air out. This prevents you from making a mess with fluid all over and also prevents any air being sucked back in the line.

Anybody have any experience with the Speed Bleeder that Brent sells? I'm intending on putting them on my '07 TBA. I understand it makes bleeding the brakes/flushing brake lines a simple one-man operation.

Oh so true, my brother. And yet, I don't like to recommend something I haven't already done and since I didn't tap-tap (and still had success) I left that part out.

Speed bleeders are OK if you don't really need them since you have to have enough pressure to open them. If you have some pressure at the lever they will work if not then there isn't enough to open them.

They are a one way valve so you need pressure to open them. I think Staffo bought a set and they didn't open when he tried to bleed his brakes due to lack of pressure.

I've installed speed bleeders on my T140 when I replaced the front calipers, it's a twin disc set up. I also used a vacuum brake bleeder like this:- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/AUTOMOTIVE-VACUUM-...=item3efc67686f Along with the speed bleeders this combo makes bleeding brakes a doddle, just make sure you keep the reservoir topped up. John, I'm assuming "doddle" is a good thing? Thanks for providing first-hand experience about the speed bleeders.

Just changed handle bars and went to a longer line, just about went krazy trying to bleed it! Tried everything, nothing was working. Bought the "mitivac" model mv8000 for about 30 bucks, best 30 dollars i ever spent! Took me about 20 minutes to bleed the front brake.
