I'm seriously considering getting a Dynojet set for my TBA. Jack Lilley has one that "Comes with 104,106,108 main jets, needles and springs." Now I wonder if anyone knows how to translate these numbers 104, 106 and 108 into the "standard" sizes? The cost is 60 UK Pounds and does NOT require any drilling in the carbs, which I think sounds terrific.

Piper,
Be sure you get the right setup, as far as I know there is not a DynoJet kit available, yet, for the BA/SMs. There is one for the Standard Bonnie I believe, but it is not the same, as their stock jets/needles are different than ours.
About a year ago I contacted DynoJet, over here in Las Vegas, and they offered a free kit and full dyno tune to any BA/SM owner that would let them borrow their bike for 2 days to develop a kit of our beauties. I have not heard of anyone doing it though.
The main difference in the kits was the needles anyway, (The springs from the CVK40's are supposed to be the nuts too, easily available at every HD shop in the world) and I think the TBS and Thruxton needles are pretty close to filling the 3-4k butt pimple some have with the stock CVKs.
If you get them put in I would love to hear the results though. Give in to the team spirit and try them for us eeh?

Pat!
There actually IS a kit for the Bonneville/Speedmaster (and therefore even for the TBA), at least at Jack Lilley:

AFAIK there is some kind of difference (don't know what) between US and Euro sold bikes. You can order D-kits from a lot of places in Europe, but this is special in the way that it doesn't seem to require drilling in the slide. Instead there are lighter(?) springs which you don't find in the other sets. What still puzzles me is the low number marking on the jets...
I've also heard of fitting (lighter) vacuum piston springs from the Screechin' Eagle 44CV-carbs as a possible way to improve throttle response.

I see them now.
Get them in and let us know how they work.

Hi Guys,
I am not much help here, but I just left the local chrome shop about an hour ago. I picked up some shims for my needles, and questioned the head mechanic about my slight sputter on take off. The mechanic recommended "lowering" my needles. Then another customer told me, "If they are CV or CVK, just order a Dynojet kit, and be done with it". He said he paid $140/US for his single carb kit, but he got the carbon fiber slide and everything else they offer. The mechanic agreed and said for both my carbs should be about 80 US dollars.

IMO not worth the money, just buy HD 44CV springs which allow for the slide to rise faster, you can also drill the vaccuum port larger, which the kit includes a drill bit I believe, other than that what are you paying for. These bits can be had at any HD dealer, and the carbon Thunderslides are not made for the 36 CVK carbs. All you are attempting to do is raise the slides faster with these kits, jetting is still jetting - ya gotta figure it out yourself, just like the air screws, $100+ isnt worth it

Thanks Gusser! I actually have a pair of Screeching Eagle CV springs on the way (thanks Phil) and I think I'm gonna try them together with the TBS needles I dumped last year or maybe a pair of Thruxton ones?
