I've searched high & low for a part number & supplier for those darn rubbers & can't find it anywhere. Little help please?

Are our stock speedo's a 2 to 1 drive ratio? I found a great re-pop of the classic Smith's speedometer for my build that I'm praying will work.

Wait a minute... I think I just partially answered my own question. As long as I mount a 2 to 1 speedo drive on my front axle, it'll work, right?

Anyone got a source for decent quality squirrel condoms? The ones I get from my FLAPS are thin and cheap and have to be replaced fairly frequently.

I think from memory the best one's available are from the dealer. They are thick and robust and if you armourall them they'll last for yonks.

I suggest giving the dealer a ring to see if they stock the oem ones. I think that's what I did cos I had the same problems.

They are also easier to take off, say for instance if you want to synchronise your carbs etc

I did have a look here but couldn't see them.

So just wondering, coming from a country that doesn't have Squirrels, how often do you have to fit their condoms for them??

We don't, we tell tourist to do it, letting them think its an Aussie custom it could explain why there are so ****** many of the stupid animals around, the tourists aren't doing it right

Woouldn't leave home without em. The auto store ones blow er pop off. Bring lot's of spares if you go that route. You can piggy back the squirrel condoms on any order. Here is another oem part that cannot be found in the non trumpet universe. 46mm wide rim bands for the rear wheel. Oh I forgot far east trumpets don't need em anymore. And another one: Those rubber squares that hold the undertank relays. Order some of those too. The cam cover rubberized washers. Cam Cover gasket. Those holey rubbers for the side cover. How about the tank support rubbers? Engine cover gaskets.

INVENTORY: an non orthodox mountainman stash.

Sounds like when us Aus soldiers were selling roo feathers to our less than familiar US counterparts during excercises up north round Shoal bay Qld during the late 70's. I think a few found out about our shenanigans a bit too late but their comments like "hey man, are you pullen ma chain" or words to that effect were priceless.

Now don't go and get all precious on me cos I know only too well you yanks saved our butts during WW2 and the alternative of existing as a 2nd class lackey to The invading race just rings a bit hollow when I think about it.

Doesnt mean we couldn't enjoy some good honest Aussie humour though does it.

They're just basic vacuum plugs same as the ones for automobile carbs, take a nice tight one to the local auto parts store and match it. Some folks find tying around them to put on the squeeze with a zip tie helps keep them from escaping.

Lately for me it's not the escaping part that's bothersome, it's the cracking and rotting over a few months. I prefer quality over quantity.

There is enough spare tubing lying around on our bikes that keeping spare vacuum plugs isn't necessary. Just cut off a 1 inch piece from your vent tubing and shove anything in one end - bolt, piece of pencil, pen etc then stick it on. It will get you home in a pinch.
