Anyone notice that half the dips occurred during times of global conflict? Perhaps thats the solution, forget everything and just try and kill as many people as possible

Excellent Dwight. Now set that up in a PowerPoint and we'll see if you can get an Oscar
What? No Peace Prize?
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

Another opinion:

These numbers are for the continuous United States only, and don't represent total global temperatures.
Also, it only represents temperatures on land, which is prone to larger temperature variations than ocean surfaces. I just wanted to point that out.

I have heard a theory that the Medieval Warm Period was caused by the growing populations of Eurasia cutting down forests for firewood. Then the Black Plague trimmed the population, allowed the forests to grow back, and threw us into the Little Ice Age. I'm not sure I buy it, but it's an interesting theory.

I did my Doctoral Thesis on AGW. But somehow my dog ate it and I forgot to make a copy so I can't prove it. Just trust me, we're all gonna burn and die!
A word to the wise is not necessary. It is the stupid ones who need the advice.

You want charts & graphs? I got charts and graphs! And a link too. http://www.factsandarts.com/articles/no-significant-global-warming-since-1995/ Several questions 1) Is there Global Warming? Yes, Maybe 2) Is it a good thing or a bad thing? Likely more good than bad. 3) Is it natural or Man Made? I'll go with 99.99% Natural 4) Can man do anything about it? Probably very little if at all. 5) Even if we could, is it worth it? Almost certainly not. 6) Who stands to profit from the AGW panic? Lots of very big companies, politicians and interest groups.

Just not the "right" ones though. Ain't that right Larry? The "right" ones tend to be in a position to lose money. Hence to rabid denial.

Are you really trying to make a case with this chart, or are you just saying charts are like xxxxxxxx, everybody has one?
OK, let's discuss this. In the first half of the bottom chart, I count 3 years with peaks above the midpoint. In the second half I count 6 years with peaks above the midpoint. That tells me that the basic trend is upward.
Look at the lows. In the first half I count 5 years with lows penetrating the second row, but in the second half of the chart I count only 4 (being generous). So, short of doing a regression analysis, I see an upward temperature trend.
In an earlier post you questioned the data collecting and compilation methods, so why would you be less rigorous now? Why just select 15 years of a 100 year trend? Wouldn't it be more relevant and credible to use the ENTIRE data set and let the numbers fall where they will?
