I have always wanted a jockey shift motorcycle and I don't want a harley! LOL I have been looking into it and it doesn't look to hard to fab one up for a triumph (05 speedmaster) and was wondering if anyone has tried this? I know it will make bike harder to ride and performance on the twisty's will suffer, but if I was mainly into twisty's, I would ride a SPEEDTRIPLE! plus with a jockey shift, any would be thieves would play he11 trying to ride away unless they already ride foot clutch/ jockey shifted bikes! anyways, its something I am looking into for ME Personal RIDE! besides, I think a jockey shift just plain looks

It's been done, member Tommy on here has a beautiful bike with a right side jockey shift. Don't know how he did it, and I don't have pics of it, but maybe FriarJohn has some saved in his cool bikes link. If you plan on a foot clutch, no reason you couldn't fab one up for the left side shift.

A PA guy build a really nicely finished bobber-style bike with tractor seat & a really cool Jockey shift. He bought a complete forward control linkage set and used that to run it over to the left side. A lot of effort, but it worked flawlessly. This might be the guy referenced earlier. I have pix on my home machine from the Butlers Orchard Brit Show a few years back, will have to dig them up.

I have a couple good shots of the bike but not of the linkage he fabbed up to put the shifter on the right. It would probably be easier to rig up a "traditional" jockey shift on the left with a foot clutch. I guess it's a toss on the effort, though, fabbing left foot pedal linkage vs. right side shift linkage.

That lower picture still shows the hand clutch cable in place so I'm guessing he didn't include a foot clutch as part of the jockey shift mod. That would explain the right side shift placement and the need for a complex linkage. I should think that it wouldn't be much of a job to do a complete left side set-up moving the clutch to the foot and grafting a hand shifter on the shift pawl at the transmission; it's not like you'd have to make any internal mods.

I can't see if he has a hand clutch lever or not, maybe I need some new glasses! and with a right side tank shifter(least its closer to a tank shifter than a jockey shifter), must be tough giving it gas and shifting! I have seen some shifters, jockey and tall tank like with the clutch lever attatched to shifter!(must suck if in gear at a stop tho! ) I want a foot operrated cable clutch pedal and a short left jockey style lever. that way I still can control throttle with right hand and left hand is free to do whatever when at a stop light. I also noticed in pic that there is a red line (electrical wires?) going up to shifter grip. Or is that some type of cable clutch hook up?

Look a little closer and you'll see that it's just girly fringe hanging off the shifter. Here's a place to start hunting answers: http://www.steelthundercc.com/shift_n_jockey_control.html

that site is ok if I had a harley, I didn't see anything I could use, not even a foot operated clutch pedal (via cable) but thanks, I might find some links thru it

Yeah, that's why I said it was an either-or situation.

I saw a jockey shift done with the clutch lever on the shifter, always liked that idea. A foot clutch would be easy to do on our bikes. I had some better shots of Tommy's bike showing the linkage better but can't find them.

Is this the sought of thing your looking for? This bike is owned by a guy who belongs to a chopper site I'm a member of, I hope he doesn't mind me showing it off
