Looking to replace my oem chain on 03 America.
I understand it is an O-ring.
Bellcorse carries DID replacements O-ring.
New Bonneville carries DID replacement X-ring.

What's is the difference, and is one preferred over the other?

The chains on the SM's and TBA's are X ring chains. It refers to a slightly different profile on the ring - the o ring is O shaped, and I bet you can guess the shape of the X ring's profile The X ring's a bit better at keeping the factory lube in the chain, and will heat up less when flexing.

I provided a couple of links to sites that I felt were extremely informative prior to my chain replacement.
Not all chains are created equally...... I went with an X-ring chain and have been happy with it. Do a search for some of my posts, perhaps it'll help you out.

X ring is a newer technology. A different shaped piece of rubber sealing each link on the chain. Go for it.. The original chain is X ring.
