The twist clutch is almost old hat. Exile Cycles has been using it forever. But I just saw this, the twist brake. Roll back to go, roll forward to stop. It's really expensive but very interesting and potentially very cool. http://www.krausmotorco.com/parts-twist-brake.html

thats crazy theyre hydraulic. Still its like you'd have to relearn how to ride all over again. I'd hate to be getting used to that at the same time a car jumped out in front of me. Its almost second nature to grip the lever that isnt there.
I will say that its only cool when theres just a grip and nothing else. Those have little housings still. Yeah you get rid of the lines, but for that much money/trouble. It better look like an old tricycle handbar set up..haha

There's a cable version of the clutch side, which is how Exile does it. I don't think you could get away with a cable-operated brake to lose the reservoir, but maybe if you relocate the master cylinder?

yeah what if the cable pulled the lever on the recloated master cylinder? Probably have a bit of lag in it. Thats not good.

I don't think I'd want to completely throttle down every time I hit the brake. Sometimes want to keep the RPMs up with a little brake. A better way to clean up the bars would probably be a proportional interlocking of the front and rear with the foot pedal.

yeah I guess you'd have to favor the rear brake while throttling. Then again when do you ever pull the front brake will throttling?

How in the he11 would you shift? I mean, don't you roll off the throttle when shifting? I want to see it in action, cause my wildest imagination still won't allow me to see this working in ANY way, shape, or form, but it MUST work, right? (I need a link! )
And you may see me tonight

You'd still have a foot shift and a foot rear brake. As far as throttling on while braking, I don't think I've ever had a need to do that. I have never gotten in the habit of blipping the throttle while down-shifting.
Personally I'd only consider this for a show bike, which it looks like that's mostly what that shop does.

twist clutch has been around since the 50s as far as I know, maybe longer. Saw the twist brake a couple years ago and didn't like the idea personally. Would make a nice clean handlebar though. No visible controls at all.

At the International Motorcycle Show, Sucker Punch Sally had their bikes as part of the Progressive display. I hadn't seen a twist clutch/brake in person. They let you sit on/fiddle with the bikes. They seemed to work well, sure look cool. Flo was supposed to be there, but didn't show. It seems she was hungover (another Progressive chick told me that). It seems Flo's a go-er....<g>
