Ummm. Ya, I guess your right, Rick. But we did enough beer drinkin last year that I don't think anybody remembers much of the evenings there.
I'm getting anxious too like Scott. I guess we need to get our ducks in a row pretty soon. I'm looking forward to a great time.

Rick, I'm planning to ride up to at least the Hannibal area with you guys and maybe do lunch. I'll have my kid on the back. Unless I have to work.

Has everyone reserved their rooms yet? All you procrastinators out there should call Timmerman's at (815)747-3181 as soon as possible and reserve a room under the bonnevilleamerica.com group! Do it. Do it now. I'll wait.

Just checked here at work, looks like i'll be off this sat. Can either pre-ride/map on sat. or sunday. I'm going to try to cut some of that 140 miles off the trip. Going to be hard to do there's so many fun backroads to ride, At the moment planning on sat. leaving about 10 am from the Big 10 Mart in East Dubuque. Sunday is an option also, my weekend is open either day.

I'm gonna be too busy to make it out there this weekend to pre-ride. What are you thinking as far as a route?

Minimal 4 lane, just enough to get from the hotel to the closest backroad. swing north around Galena heading towards Elizebeth, pick up Derinda road, which turns into Scenic Ridge Road that ends in Savanna. going to look at a different route back. need to check that all the roads are paved.
i needed another excuse to ride anyway

That sounds great Gary. Maybe back up Blackjack road if it's in good condition?

I talked to the people at Potosi Brewery today and made a reservation for us for saturday. If we want to tour the National Brewery Museum we can get in for 5 bucks each if there is 20 of us, otherwise it's $7.

Didn't get started today until 2pm, was raining pretty hard at 10 am. weather cleared up and i rode the whole route to poopy's. didn't take time to eat "poop" tho.
Cut it back to aproximately 125 miles round trip.
Mapquest estimates a 90 mile round trip by the boring "direct" route

i routed back up Blackjack Rd. it's in pretty good shape, tested the cornering on my S3 a few times

OK, the rally is right around the corner. Here's a little of what's in store. As always, anyone can do their own thing at any time if they want.

Thursday, 6/24
Show up day for most of us. Nothing really planned, meet & greet at the hotel on the deck in the afternoon. We can have some pizzas delivered or go get food somewhere, really loose plans here, mostly we'll play it by ear.

Friday, 6/25
10:00am(ish) We'll do a short but twisty and fun ride down to Savanna, IL to Poopy's for lunch or if someone wants to get tattooed or something. Here's a couple maps of the ride to and from Savanna.
Ride to Poopys
Ride back from Poopys

Friday evening at 5:30 is the 2nd annual
Happy Hour Cruise on the Mississippi River. We will leave from the hotel at 5:00 and hopefully this year the trip to the marina will be a little shorter

Saturday 6/26
9:00 AM The Great River Road awaits. The big ride this year will head up the Iowa side of the river and back down the Wisconsin side. We will stop for breakfast at Breitbachs Inn in Balltown, IA, continue up the river to Lansing, over to WI, and down towards Potosi to our lunch stop at Potosi Brewery . The Brewery is not only a restaurant but is also home to the National Brewery Museum. From Potosi we will wind our way back to the hotel in East Dubuque. Other stops along the route are To Be Determined, but there will be scenic stops along the way, and for gas, etc. Here's a map.
Saturday ride map

Saturday night we'll decide where to go for dinner, we will probably not want to ride anywhere, so the restaurant near the hotel we went to last year may work out well for us again. http://timmermanssupperclub.com/ . We'll see how it goes.

Sunday 6/27
Go Home! For me and my entourage, we will have breakfast at a restaurant in downtown Galena, then take Stagecoach Trail back east towards Rockford and on to Chicago. If anyone going east would like to join us you're more than welcome.

These plans are tentative and can change, but hopefully the weather will cooperate and everything will go great. Again, if anyone doesn't want to do all or any of this, you're by no means obligated. Everyone is free to do their own thing. See you guys in 10 days.

If anyone in NE Illinois, or SE Wisconsin is planning to leave thursday afternoon for the rally, There are a couple of us meeting up at my place around 11-11:30 am. I'll throw some burgers and dogs on the grill for lunch and we can ride out together around noon or so. If you're interested let me know and I'll get you directions.

next thing you know they are going to want you to light a fire in that grill and, you know, actually cook them things.

Scott - I'll see you around 11:00 Thursday

Hmmm...do I dare ask for ketchup? Nah, I'll just stop at McD's and steal a couple packets on my way.

That's the plan. I actually didn't think it was an hour away, but I guess we aren't exactly going the fastest route are we. I called Breitbachs and made a reservation for 9:30. I have to call them back that morning anyway with a more accurate head count, so I can tell them we will be closer to 10:00 too.

I just clicked on my link for the saturday ride and noticed the route ends in potosi . Trust me, we will be riding back to east dubuque, it just didn't show up on the map for whatever reason.

Work is the curse of the riding class. Something came up at work for this Friday and there is no way I can miss it, so my vacation is canceled. I missed the Georgia rally too, so luck just isn't running my way this summer.

Have fun, y'all.

Iknow Iread somwhere in this thread that you put out some cash for reservations if I owe you anthing for that tellme so I can get it to you. Iwould feel terible if my backing out costed you. Dont wait for me. Iwill call or text when we leave with an arrival time at some point on the route. you can confirm when you get a chance while were on the road. my number is 5156890850 so you recognise it.
