Hey Argyle, you should PM Jayhawk, he may if he has someone to ride the whole distance with, feel more at ease making the whole ride. I know it would me.

Dave man its gonna suck if you cant make it, but I understand, family first always.

Chris, yeah I guess I need to be giving you a call here pretty soon, time is creeping up on us pretty quick. Will help a little if I get everyone nailed down who is going and were we are all meeting at. If its just Paul and me, headed over to you, then we may just do like we did last year. Then we can meet up with Argyle and hopefully Jayhawk in Hannibal. Chris do you remember how long it take to get From Wentzville to Hannibal? That would give me a rough idea of when I need to meet up with you.

it's about an hour from Wentzville to Hannibal, about 65 miles or so

Well, I guess if jayhawk DOES back out I have it on the books to split with Paul. In that case, If nobody else there can take a roomie, I'm sure you could be a third in with me and Paul. I know the hotel has roll ins available.
We'll figure something out, no worries.

I am defintely going to be there; just not sure of my route.

Speaking of which - is I-70 between KC & St. Louis still the worst piece of interstate in the country ? It has been a couple of years since we went back to visit.

I-70 isn't too bad, I drive it a lot because I have to meet up to get my kid in Lawrence KS... I know the drive all too well. I even rode to KC last summer to have a surprise dinner with my wife (she had a week long conference) and it was pretty smooth sailing. Only gets a little rough right around Columbia.

Cool. Glad you're coming. The more the merrier.
So as I see it..
Paul(Pes) is meeting up with Rick(Livinginh)
Jayhawk and I have to meet up along I-70 and then meet with Paul and Rick probably in Wentzville.
Then the 4 of us will probably meet up with Argyle, right?
Hey anybody, is Rich Arstaren going? I have an elevator joke for him.

Im so confused

Ok, Jayhawk how about you ride over to the highway 65 junction on I-70, that is were me and Paul will jump on 70 at, then you could just ride over with us to meet up with Chris, then all of us head up to meet up with Argyle. As I hear it only about an hour or so at 65 or 75 mph from Wentzville to Hannibal.

Haven't had a chance to scout a route down to Savanna yet. Big Texas (Denny) is going to help with mapping out a couple of routes. ( i might need a brake on my propensity to hit every backroad in the county ) I'll try to map out a direct route, and the most scenic one we can find to give everybody options.
For the Sat. ride anybody that wants to go a little further north could go up to Lansing IA. and cross over into WI. before heading back south. They have a bigger taller steel grate bridge than the one at Savanna IL. This would add 50 miles to the round trip.
I talked to a couple of friends that have a resturaunt in Galena, if a group wants to eat there, they will seat everyone together in the back room. The menu is posted at www.charobrians.com.
For those "Field of Dreams " fans part of the movie was shot in this building,

I PM'd Argyle, haven't heard back yet. Told hom I liked the idea of riding to Hannibal, but I'm also up meeting you & Paul on I-70 (at the highway 65 junction) if he decides he'd prefer that. We'll let you know!

Under 3 months to go - both a long time, and right around the corner!

Sounds good Gary. Maybe we should book that back room at your friend's restaurant for friday evening. I'm thinking the ride south on friday will be a bit shorter than the sat. ride, and we will want somewhere to go for dinner.

As far as going on up to Lansing on the sat. ride, that sounds good to me, but I'll leave it up to the group, I don't know how many people want to add 50 miles onto the trip. This will bring it to almost 200 miles. CHIME IN ON THIS GUYS!

I'd just about ride or even walk through a cornfield to avoid I-70.

US 24/36 is a pretty nice ride, so we (I?) can catch up with the Wentzville crew about lunchtime in Hannibal. If Rick & crew hit Wentzville 10:30-11:00 ish, that should put them in Hannibal about noon or a little after. Mapquest shows a Golden Corral at the junction of 61 & 36 which will make a good meeting place and maybe even work for lunch.

Actually I-70 wasnt that bad last year, I road part of it in the rain even. But Im good with how ever we go about it. I know we still have a couple months to go, but the way this year is going, it will be on us quick.

Scott, hey Im ok with the extra 50 on Sat, just depends on what everyone else wants to do and how late we are planning on being out. Kinda like to have to visit chill time with everyone Saturday, beings most of us head out early Sunday morning to head home ward. Just something to keep in mind. I did go ahead and take Monday off this year so I dont have to be so rushed to get home.

The Iowa side is an awesome ride up to lansing. Coming back down the wisconsin side goes pretty fast. If it works out and theres time Id do it. Im with whatever the group decides. Bucks and Bulls is kindof a neat little watering hole in Harpers ferry. Me and Julie had to crash in a hotel there one night when we couldnt find a camp site.

So it pretty much looks like at this point, whoever is coming is coming. I was thinking about extending an invite to our local RAT pack. There are a couple guys with Speedmasters, who I've told about this site a couple times. Not sure what kind of turnout to expect, it's not a large group. I wanted to make sure first of all, that everyone here had first dibs on the rooms. If you haven't booked a room yet, go ahead and do it, there is no charge for cancelling if you change your mind last minute. Secondly, I wanted to see if there were any objections to inviting the RATs, or should we keep it BA.com exclusive?

Regrettfully I am not going to be able to make it either. I just found out last week that we are going to be furloughed at work starting in July since the state is in a budget crisis. I'm not going to be able to afford 2 rallies. Hopefully I can shoot for next year. I will have to cancel my annual leave and hotel reservation, so there will be one more room available.

OK, Scott, you asked for it - a couple of rats will be infesting your little party. I booked a room for fri & sat for me (Steve Larson) and Frank Maggerise. Didn't know this was your baby or I would have signed up sooner. If you'd come to a meeting once in a while I might be more informed

Thanks for the "rats are cool" comment, although being a Cubs fan I obviously have my faults. See you at the May meeting (perhaps?)!

Glad you guys are coming. I'm going to try to make it to more meetings, but getting to Addison from Chicago (Armitage & Elston) after working until 6:30-7pm is a tall order, especially with all the construction on 290. I'll try to come to the May meeting though, see if anyone else wants to come. I think we should meet on sundays, that way we could all meet for breakfast somewhere then do a ride if we want. But anyway...

It's really a good time, You may have to put up with some obnoxious Cardinal fans, ( ) but they're good guys.

Well, now there's a chance that I can make it again this year. Anybody know what the situation is on the room availability? Maybe just me, maybe me and a hardly rider.

Pretty sure there are still rooms available, Rich, but no watching me while I sleep, the wife isn't coming this year and I'm going to need some me time.
