Here is a little song they did together. Really cute. She was always totally in control and he was always totally devoted to her. The very manner in which they interacted made if funny.

Ummm..yeah John, that's it alright. Considering the "demographic profile" of BA.com members, the Friar is kind'a performing a "public service" here for us Boomers by testing our individual cognitive skills!

You see, if one GETS the joke, THAT means that one has not yet reached the age where one's mental acuity is shot and when one should maybe consider giving up riding motorcycles altogether!

However, after reading the second sentence in your response to this thread...

Quote:

...all I can say is what a shame it appears to be that I've just read in this very website that you have very recently purchased another motorcycle!!!

(yep...it appears your timing in this regard is rather unfortunate, you old forgetful fart you!!!)

Hey, this is the only joke my dad has sent me that I thought was funny. Most of them are just sad or stupid and there's been A LOT of them. And since he's a geezer I thought you geezers might enjoy it too.

Oh, so you're sayin' this WASN'T some kind'a "cognitive skills test" then, huh John?!

Well, in THAT case, please allow me express my heartfelt and sincere apologies to both YOU and to your fellow Montanan up that away!

(in other words, yeah, I suppose he can keep that there almost brand new shinny Mulberry Red Triumph o' his then...but I DO expect YOU to keep a little better eye on the old guy from here on out, you understand kid!!!)

Okay, for all you folks over there on that li'l ol' island sittin' just off the coast of Europe , here's the explanation to the comic John posted above.

In the early 1950s, the great american TV(that's the "telly" to you I suppose) comedy star by the name of Jackie Gleason had his own TV variety show, and one of the skits regularly played out on that show was called "The Honeymooners", which became such a popular part of Gleason's program that it was soon "spun off" and became a regularly broadcast program onto itself.

Gleason played the part of a blowhard NYC bus driver named Ralph Kramden. These sketches and the subsequent TV show customarily centered on Ralph's incessant get-rich-quick schemes, the tensions between his ambitiousness and his friend Norton's scatterbrained aid and comfort, and the inevitable clash when his sensible wife Alice tried pulling her husband's head back down from the clouds which would often lead to a verbal battle with her. One of his usual "threats" during these battles would be to make a fist at her and say, "How would you like a trip to the moon, Alice?! BANG, ZOOM!!!"

And on a side note:

I read recently somewhere that Joyce Randolph, "Trixie", is the last surviving member of the cast (I knew the others had all died) and is still very active at somewhere approaching 90 years old.

I thought that was hilarious, though it did take me about 30 seconds to make the connection. It's been a long time since I've watched the Honeymooners.

Yeah, well here's my "theory" 'bout THAT, Bill....

Ms. Randolph really had little to do nor many lines to recite on that show, RIGHT?!

And so, unlike Gleason, Carney and Meadows, SHE was not "overworked", and thus probably the reason she's 90 and still among the living!!!

(that would be "still amongst the living" for you folks over there on that li'l ol' island readin' this, BTW!!!)

Nobby, it's what Richard was probably thinking most of the time when Hyacinth was running her mouth off on "Keeping up Appearances", does that help? Pow, to the Moon Hyacinth!

I thought it was hilarious!
Oh, and by the way, I'm old enough to have watched the show on Nick at Nite.
It is funny at about 10-12 years old this children's station "Nickelodeon" started
airing old black and white shows like; Dick Van Dyke, My Three Sons,
The Honeymooners, Mr. Ed, leave it to Beaver, ect… I was rapt by the old black
and white shows and developed more of an appreciation for the old moralistic,
wholesome shows than the new ones with hard quips and cutting remarks that
just degraded everyone else and made all adults look like simpletons next to
children.

Heck, I'm "Gen X" and I thought that was hilarious. Although I've always been partial to comedy "before my time" like 3 Stooges, Abbott and Costello, Laurel and Hardy, Little Rascals, etc...
