The low-life, scumbag, wasting my air, POS who wrote or launched the Anti-virus 2009 trojan virus, I'd donate some lead in his direction! I spent 3 hours cleaning malware and installing virus and spybot on my DILs machine, only to have my home PC get the (&*^&*^* thing! I have Anti Vir and Spybot running and it didn't catch it. Anyone with a known cure for this crap? Does Firefox help? No $ to change over to Apple... Grrrrrrr! later, Tom.
But, what do I know?

Looks like there's a tool labeled smitfraudfix that will do what you need. Also some malware labeled SmitFraud Fix Tool that just makes things worse so some careful work is required. More to read here: http://www.2-spyware.com/remove-antivirus-2009.html

I never thought I'd be a shill for Microsoft, but Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) has been the best tool I've found for preventing and removing that kind of malware. And it's free. Go to Microsoft's web site and search MSE or Microsoft Security Essentials.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is one of the many reasons I went back to a Mac. It cost me a little more up front but, like a Triumph, it just keeps running. Disseminating viruses should be a hanging offense. String up a few malicious geeks on the public square as examples to the rest and this problem would go away. On the other hand, I wonder if the anti-virus companies don't pay people to do it just to keep their sales up. Sort of like the companies that make both cop radars and radar detectors.
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

Extortionware sucks. I had a rogue anti-virus trojan get by Norton earlier this year, installed Spyware Doctor before it took over everything and got rid of it.

Maybe take 'em and shoot THEM up with a virus, like say... West Nile or something.

Yup, I had good luck with the Malwarebytes getting it off the DILs machine, but it seemed to still leave problems in the registry and is running a bit slower. I'll probably use that again when I get home this weekend. I have it on a thumb drive. I'll definately disconnect the ether hose this time on my machine... I like the hanging idea, let's go back to a kinder gentler days when we would hang them with an "old rope". Don't want to chaf their neck with a new one! later, Tom.
But, what do I know?

Hanging's over too quickly. I favor breaking their fingers. If the little nerds like to type code, they can type with their noses.

well, we could castrate them, but it's unlikely they get laid anyway

First, infect them with every bio-virus known. Then, when they are too sick to fix it, install every known computer virus on their PC. After that, lock them in a room and play Theresa Brewer's version of 'Doggy in the Window' for 500 hours straight.

Absolutely! "STEARN!" That is one of my favorite movies, I usually have to watch it once year. Nothing like Heavy Metal Ta-Tas!
I think breaking a finger, one a day, should be a good starting point! (after the bamboo, of course).
later, Tom.

Why do you think they write viruses? It's the only way they're ever going to spread anything resembling genetic material.
We could use them for medical testing. That way scientists don't have to worry about getting emotionally attached, like they do sometimes with rats.

Got that one a few weeks ago - just after leaving a link I followed on the Cyril Huze blog. I hope there was no connection, but it took 2 attempts and about 3 hours for the McAfee tech in India to clear it up.
Fortunately, my wife made such a stink about the porn that started popping up that McAfee agreed to waive the $85 charge.
I don't wish that virus on anybody!

Only when done "properly". Hang them the old fashioned way from a branch, but then slowly lower a floor jack out from under their feet instead of kicking out the stool, or horse or whatever. Instead of a quick snap, it's more prolonged. And as they're expiring, bring their laptop out and load it up with malware and spyware...

Call me old fashioned, but boiling in oil would seem appropriate. Only I'm not sure, synthetic or regular. And what weight would work best?
