Only -12C early this morning here never seen that before and went out on a trial bike today - it was a blast!
Generally though anything lower than 3C is too cold for my T'bird!

There comes a time when no matter how much clothes you pull on, you are still cold! This is one of those times.

Not quite that chilly here Stewe, -11c.

I'm reminded how when as kids we'd go to some "old relative's" home in the winter and it was always a bit on the warm side. I stoke up my wood stove nowadays and fear I have turned into that guy

Do I hear someone .... ahem....whining...about the weather??? Can I give you some advice? Don't!!! There are people here like Frank and Dwight ... who are merciless, ruthless and will bring you to tears when they speak about ... well...ahh...er.. riding all year round.

I mean, I can really feel for yah... Not that it would ever get to -40C here in northern Ontario....I'd never say that.... I'm really not depressed.... Can't you tell???

So remember, in the future, everything is alright. The temps are balmy and were not riding because WE DON'T WANT TO...Right??? not because we can't.

When you walk on the snow and it squeaks, it's too cold.
When hard liquor starts getting thick, it's too cold.
When you can't make a snowball stick together, it's too cold.
When you have to heat up a key to get a lock to work, it's too cold.
When it takes 20 minutes to put on your clothes, it's too cold.
Lastly, when you ask "How cold is too cold?", it's too cold.
BTW, don't let the Florida locale fool you, I grew up in Wisconsin.

Someone please turn the heat on or lock this thread...I seriously believe a lot of the cold weather we've been receiving up north is because of all the "Hot air" coming from the posts down south. There's nothing left for us up here.

Pretty cold out there, eh? Here we're getting rain, even at at higher elevations such as our ski hill (Red Mountain). I hear they're getting rain in the coastal range too and it's looking a little bleak for the Olympics.

For a Florida Cracker:

Too cold is when ear plugs, 1. Resist pre insertion compression and 2. Resist post insertion expansion.

Too cold is when one's mpg falls dramatically due to the extended warm ups.

Too cold is when your gloves no longer stick to the hand grips.

same cracker but now traveling:

Too cold is when windchill forces you to ride so slow that you take back roads so you can ride without fear of being rearended.

Too cold is when the beer freezes in your saddlebags...
...on the way back to the hotel from the market.

Too cold is when your "I can't ride today" tears freeze before they hit the ground.

Lately I've been doing snow removal chores on the boss man's skating pond.
Had to "chain up" to get the job done.

As the saying goes - That's wrong on so many levels.

It's been colder, but I once saw a policeman trying to pull over a bike while riding on the road in 6 inches of slush that you don't want to drive a 4 wheeler in.

Yet another cold weather yankee-ism, inspired by the fact
that we likes to put 1,000s of tons of salt on our roads.

This

And this or similar

Plus this as an inline soap dispenser

Makes for a right nifty under vehicle wash / salt removal apparatus.
Tin foil on the rear end may vent required.
Again - wrong on so many, many levels

Wrote a song about it, wanna hear it?

Nah nah nah - nah nah
Got chains on my shoe

Nah nah nah - nah nah
Spray soap up my truck

Nah nah nah - nah nah
Lookin' for the first woman

Nah nah nah - nah nah

when I took off yesterday morning it was 28 when I went back it was 40. I don't think I'll do that again... but that's what I said last winter going to chy's to get the bike serviced. Today I rode again but it was 38 when I left the house and when I leave will be around 52. I guess I can't complain too much...

Well Greg my Sunday BBQ ride has been cancelled.

The youngest daughter has turned up with her 3 BRATS.

So I made an excuse and rode out to 2 of our local beach suberbs to get you a couple of warm pics.

First 2 are of Speedy (Sporting her new America bars) at The Burnett River Estuary. Temperature 32c at 2pm.

[image][/image]

[image][/image]

Next 2 are at Bargara. First one is the local saltwater swimming hole built in the 1870's by Pacific Islander workers to safeguard themselves from shark attack.

Second one is looking over the Coral Sea with the village of Elliot Heads in the background.

[image][/image]

[image][/image]

Just another shot of the beach at Bargara.

Hope this cheers you up Greg, not long untill summer and you can get some riding in

Keith, This is what my wife & I have just given up.
We spent 3 years cruising the Great Barrier Reef on the yacht in the photo. Alas now sold to build the new house.

I know I rib guys about our weather , but I don't ride a lot when the temp. gets over 30c. I wear a full face helmet and a leather jacket I have had for years and it weighs about 5 Kgs. If I go down I dont mind loosing my jacket, but skin is a different thing.
