I came up with this... It's just a first draft, but I think it should be easy enough to do... I got a shop around here who could shape aluminum bars for me. I tried to pick up lines from the bike.

It looks good but I would prefer the back rest a little higher. Just my thought though.

Looks nice. Would that be a quick release or a bolt on?

My initial thought is bolt on... didn't think about making it with a quick release system... hummm... something to think about.
I could also put the backrest a bit higher.. but I am not fond of a tall backrest. I guess I will decide the final height when I start making the parts.
Thanks!

Looking pretty classy but I think you should put a real tall sissy bar on the back there that resembles Taipei 101. You'd become a tourist attraction and you could sell tons of miniature models of both 101 and your bike. Imagine the possibilities!!

Very nice. I, too, think it should be a little taller.

how about making the back rest pad adjustable, and then make a bunch of them and become a vendor

Hey, that's an idea! Then, not just make some miniatures, but the real thing, so that I can take orders and ship all over the world.
Ok, lines are open, who wants to get in on this very special backrest/sissybar combination?

All joking aside, I welcome your input. I will look into those Easy Brackets and who knows, if it all goes well, I might be able to spring a few extra combos, since this is Taiwan, land of opportunity for the industrious.
Oh, and I moved my backrest pad up a bit, on both my designs!

HAhah, that looks like a missile, can come in handy at trafic jams.
@Perceval: nice picture. I bet it will look good in reality too.

If you go this route, you might consider making the backrest adjustable, on say an elevator type design. Check with Asteran regarding the details

I like the way you had it originally...(heck, I do the driving, so it would not be MY back "rest" per se!!)

Looks more like a Saturn 5 rocket than a backrest. Where are you going with it...the moon?

Sorry, it was meant as a joke, of course. That is the Taipei 101 building. It was for a short time the tallest structure on earth, which is no small feat in a land of typhoons (hurricanes) and earthquakes. The idea to mount the backrest on an "elevator" so it could move up and down was very original! Thanks for that!

I liked the first, maybe the pad a little slanted back to match the lines on a speedmaster.

Maybe eliminate the strut covers and extend the rack frame to the seat.

How about designing one for our bikes like the "ride, rack and rest"? A quick-release pillion, rider back rest and luggage rack all in one. heartland
