Hello,

I have been told by Dale at Specialty Spares that all that needs doing is a straight swap on the exhausts, no fiddling with the engine, apparently it remaps itself after 200 miles. Can someone confirm this is all correct, the last thing I would want to do is change the exhuasts from the pathetic sound of the stock pipes, and then to knacker up the engine.

Would appreciate all the comments on the specialty spares exhausts.

Thanks,
welshwhizz

I never heard of one that maps itself. Triumph has a map for the TORs depending how much of a baffle the SS have that may work for you. Otherwise you may need to see what else is available for maps. One of our members was working on mapos but I don't remember who it was. Also Tune Boy might have something but I am not sure if that have done anything for our bikes or not.

Thanks for the comments, I really expected more of a response. Looking at the number of views this thread has had, I'd say this seems to be a bit of a grey area?

It's just new that's all. Most of us are pre-EFI and speaking for myself... would not want to misinform you. It's not a gray area it's a NEW area.

No one would want to misinform you but I know if it was my bike I would want to err on the side of caution.

Think I best speak to the local dealer before I place the order.

The ECU can only remap itself within certain premapped limits. What I have found when replacing the exhaust with a more free flowing exhaust is the O2 sensors are going to send information back to the ecu, the ecu will read this information and not be able to adjust within its limits so it will run the O2 sensors in closed loop. I have bypassed my O2 sensors with the tuneboy programme and bike bike runs perfect. Tuneboy has a copy of my map for 08 speedmaster with pod filters and custom exhaust.

Thanks Davo that is just the info I was looking for. Now all I need is to find someone in southern Ontario with a Tuneboy
