My friend and neighbor Daryl told me today to check out the AMA website for something he was sure I would find very "interesting" concerning their race schedule for next year.

And so, when I got home I fired up this here laptop and went to...

...and what did I spy?

2010 AMA Pro Flat Track Grand National Championship schedule

Posted November 24, 2009

From a press release issued by Daytona Motorsports Group...

DAYTONA BEACH, FL (November 24, 2009) - AMA Pro Racing announced today the 2010 AMA Pro Flat Track Grand National Championship schedule that features an increased number of races plus new and former events back on the schedule.

The 2010 schedule features 19 dates in 13 markets across the country with a mixture of Short Track, TT, Half-Mile and Mile dirt tracks.

Once again the AMA Pro Flat Track Grand National Championship will consist of three series; Expert Singles, Expert Twins and the highly successful Pro Singles.

The season will open during Daytona Bike Week at the new DAYTONA® Flat Track with a TT on Wednesday, March 3rd. Thursday, March 4th will see the first Expert Singles and Pro Singles National on the Short Track configuration.

Next on the schedule will be the first Expert Twins National at a new venue with a Mile at Yavapai Downs in Prescott Valley, AZ, located just north of Phoenix. This will be the first motorcycle race at Yavapai Downs and the only track in the western part of the country to feature Mile Nationals. The series will return to Yavapai Downs in October with back-to-back Nationals.

Now, I've always thought my "luck/timing-in-life" was for some reason close to impeccable, but THIS is unbelievable! You see, as some folks already know around here, I've always loved flat track bikes and flat track racing, but to have the AMA schedule for the FIRST TIME EVER one of their premier Grand National Championship Mile Races in the Prescott Arizona area the exact year my wife and I will be moving permanently to our other home there is just FANTASTIC!!!

(yep...now I sure don't know what kind of good deeds I must've performed in a previous life to have deserved all the luck and good timing in this one, but I sure must've been one heck of a good guy back then anyway!!!)

Hey Dwight... just climbed out of a hugely successful (and loud) jam full of tight grooves with experimental overtones above a classic mix. A good time, the best of times. So I kinda got this glow on from all the excitement when I came upstairs and fired up my browser. That's when I read your post.

I feel your joy man... already a blast just knowing everything's all lined up to make one -o'-the coolest things happen right before your eyes. Yeah... that's magic (which occurs within the realm of good karma, which you alluded to).

But ya know... that, jamming with the boys, putting the first 2000 miles on a new America, or getting a fender from a '49 Dodge to look real good are all examples of the finer things in life that make it all worthwhile.

So thanks for the heartfelt-id-ness of your post and may your luck/timing always be a charm.

Live to love, love to live.

The closest I got to flat track racing was after 3-4 years of ownership, taking my 76 T-140 for a tune-up to some guys who's shop supported their flat track racing habit.

Dang.........dang......

Of course, we'll expect a report. Wait, we're still expecting a European report

So Dwight, with this flat track racing coming up in May 2010, will you be considering making that date for the SWTF? I think it has great potential.

Ya know Bob, that's not a bad question there! And so, what say some of you SWTF regulars? Should we maybe move that shindig up three weeks to the beginning of May so we can include goin' to this race that saturday???

(and Bill, yep you're right alright...I think I/we learned my/our lesson about scheduling the rally on Memorial Day weekends...yep, it appears there's too many folks who would like to attend but can't due to their jobs requiring them to work at that time)
